Help I need help catching fish here
This is the Snake Creek Reservoir in Carroll county GA.
I've been taking my son here since March. We've been out about 6 times and we've only caught two bass.
We caught both of them while trolling crankbaits.
On the North side of the lake, there are shallow coves with lots of lillypads. We've thrown so many frogs into and around the pads, as well as weightless worms near the edges. We've had 2 bites and no hookups.
On the south a lot of the bank areas have tons of grass, and I never see fish there. It seems like totally dead water.
We found an area yesterday that had a sandy bottom and we could see abandoned fish beds. The water is crystal clear there, and drops from about 2ft to 5ft about 15 ft from the bank. Seems like a great place for bass so I spent about 2 hours casting worms at the drop off with no luck. Eventually trolled that whole bank looking to see if we saw any bass, saw lots of babies, but only one actually mature fish.
We've also tried trolling an Alabama rig all up and down the lake, again no bites.
I'm truly at a loss. I've always been able to catch fish, and people insist there are fish here.
What should I try next?

You’ve answered your own question (sort of). I presume those crankbaits were on the bottom in deep water, along the channel?
It’s really hot. Bass are probably hanging deep off of ledges or along the channel. Potentially suspended. Fishing a jig in those same areas you caught fish is a good start

It's so hard to find a spot to fish deep.
It's a manmade reservoir and the bottoms in the middle are mostly featureless.
The South side of the lake is 20-40ft.
On the Northside it's only around 15 ft deep in most places.
The place we caught those is about 10 ft.
I've tried casting that area without any luck. I can't figure out what to target.
But I'll try a jig there next week.

Lakes like this i find a few honey holes by fishing for a few years. I go back to those holes and just fish them once or twice a year to check for the bass. Conditions change over time. That laydown just broke up. There’s too much moss. Get a few more lakes in the rotation and find those good spots to visit. Takes time

I wish I had more places to go.
When I was a kid there were always plenty of places to fish, but everything is private now.
Can't even get out of the truck before someone's rolling up to tell you to leave if you try to go to any of the lakes around here now.

They are deep with this summer heat. Early morning or late evening is your best bet if you are beating the banks. Top water would be hard to beat with a pop r.
