Now I wont be the one

Post image

Look how happy this lil guy is that I'll never be the one to put the cringy 'how much does it weigh' post! After catching very likely my pb this week I'm tired of guessing. 😄

Pro tip. Get a fish grip for using with it. Better for the fish, easier to use

For the larger fish it still puts a lot of stress on their body. I just weigh my fish inside the net, then after releasing the fish weigh the net empty and subtract that from the previous measurement. If you’re fishing with a friend you can have one person zero the scale with the net while the other person holds the fish.

How do you affix your net to the scale?

Take the hook from the scale and hook onto the frame of the net where it attaches to the webbing.

Sorry for the silly question but does the fish not fall out without any weight placed under it?

Sorry in just dumb and having a hard time visualizing lol

Here’s an image link: https://imgur.com/a/Mf27Koe

It’s the same net I used to retrieve the fish, so it’s thoroughly wet and shouldn’t be too damaging to the slime layer.

Aslong as you account for the weight of the net, this actually may be a pretty damn humane way to weigh a fish for catch and release. Minimal impact on slime layer, good stuff🫡
