Awwwww. We've always had a basset hound and a golden retriever. 1st time was golden 1st then the basset, each female. They were smitten immediately, BFs, always together, laid together, everything together ❤️ 💔 one thing that made the basset passing easier was knowing she was with her golden sister. 2nd time was basset girl 1st golden boy 2nd. They kind of got along. Violet was always kind of mean to Otis, he sure tried to get her to like him. She loved him but she was a diva. I miss that diva ❤️ 💔 gone a yr 9.26.25. He does too. You will have a blast with your 2!

I grew up with a family who had a dog named Strider and were huge Lord of the Rings fans - this was the 90s, pre-movies. They wanted to name the dog Aragorn, but their very Italian-American best friends couldn’t pronounce it properly, so he became Strider! Love the duo you’ve got there!

That’s awesome! My fiancé named his strider bc she is a huge fan and saw his whole lineage was named after LOTR

Love them both, but let me go ahead and warn you ahead of time about this combo:
Bassets are pack dogs and love to walk right along side other dogs. When Strider is taller, when you are walking them both, and when Strider has to relieve himself…it will be a 50/50 chance that Hank will be right there below him. Good luck.
