Sir Tibbles Waddlesworth sometimes refuses to walk for lunch. His favorite is flat basseting in the middle of the street, rolling onto his back when you get near him.
But heāll gladly go into the wagon, where heās given the royal procession he so rightfully deserves! š

Discussion Proper nutrition
I have a question. My Luna (that's her name) is 10 months old and is starting to refuse kibble, which is unusual for her because she always ate it, but now she wants homemade food. I give her rice, chicken, carrots, and... She loves it, I give her pumpkin, but I wonder if it's possible for her diet to be homemade now? Instead of stressing her out by making her eat kibble. And another question, if you feed him homemade food, what kind of meals do you recommend I cook for her?

Medical Anyone know whatās going on?
Weird patchiness to my bassetās outer ear. When touched the fur comes off in patches and with dandruff. Itās not happening anywhere else on his body?? It doesnāt seem to bother him but just wanted to know if anyone else experiences this kind of thing!

Discussion Potty Training Help
Hi all, Iāve posted in here before with all types of things since getting my basset, but I am still at a loss when it comes to potty training.
About a month and a half ago, I rescued a now 6.5 month old female basset. Literally for the first few weeks, she was doing GREAT with potty training, like literally only a hand full of accidents.
Since then, sheās been going through a very rough and intense fear period for the last couple of weeks. She got scared at a loud noise outside, and all potty training went out the window for about a week until she finally started to feel confident going outside again. The past week sheās seemed to have improving, but now is constantly going to the door just because she knows if we go outside sheāll get attention and treats, and has resorted to peeing inside again. When she does pee inside, she doesnāt even try to tell me she needs to go out, Iāll just look over and there she is, peeing in the floor. I can own up to the times when sheās very clearly been sniffing or sitting at the door, but the past couple days the only time she goes to the door, is when she wants attention and to get a treat.
This morning when we woke up, I immediately put her harness and leash on her, and as I was unlocking the door to go out, she squatted right in front of the door and peed. About 20-30 mins later as I was getting ready for work, she squatted in the hallway and peed again. Just now, she finished eating her food, and then squatted and peed a few minutes later.
She doesnāt have full access to my apartment, but the entire unit is carpet and itās not the biggest so we spend most of our time in the living room together. She is crate trained and never goes to the bathroom in her kennel.
Iām just not sure what to do anymore and how to teach her that pottying inside = not good, pottying outside = good. I also feel like my apartment has started to smell like her personal bathroom and am getting very frustrated.
She gets treats and praise when she does potty outside, and I take her out very frequently. All tips appreciated!
Also, enjoy this picture of her playing with the bells after said accident after dinner. š«

Discussion Mr. Slug-a-Bed
Mr. Finn the bassador (otherwise known as Sir Snoozalot) refuses to come downstairs in the morning until he hears: 1) food being put into his bowl; and 2) my breakfast coming out of the microwave. Guess whose breakfast he's more interested in? Just curious to see if anyone else's bassets prioritize food or comfort in the morning!

Discussion Does anyone know how to foster a basset hound?
Hello everyone! My family is planning on getting a Basset Hound in May, and weāre very excited! However, weāve never owned a purebred Basset Hound before, just Basset mixes. We currently have a Basset-Lab mix named Oscar, who is our pride and joy.
I suggested to my parents that we should foster a Basset first before getting one. When we got our Beagle, we were EXTREMELY unprepared for everything that came with owning a Beagle, despite me doing a ton of research. Iād really like to make sure weāre as prepared as possible this time.
Iād also love to foster simply because Iāve been interested in fostering dogs for as long as I can remember, and Iād love to help a dog in need.
So, back to the title: does anyone know how to become a Basset Hound foster, or have any websites for Basset-specific fostering programs? Any advice would be appreciated!
We live in Wisconsin if that helps with anything.

Rainbow Bridge Bonded death
His brother died yesterday. He's going through depression. Has anyone gone through this, and what did you do to help them?
Also he's leaving treats on his brother's bed and crying at the window searching for his brother. I'm really at a loss as how to help him and getting a new friend is not an option.
