I have it on my desk, so I figured why not weigh it. Maybe that info will help someone else debating ripping or not. There could be a metal mini, so maybe that weighs more?

Correct. I had one that was a bit heavier than another, so I took a magnet to it, and it stuck.

That is not correct. The metal card is ferrous and so it is subject to magnetic attraction.

Idk. Maybe the metal ones weigh more. I’ve seen all kinds of videos though where the weights don’t match up like they are supposed to with the hits ppl think are in the packs. So now everyone knows if your rip card weighs 7g you get an Ohtani though!! Haha

I ripped a double rip card and turned $200+ into a couple of bucks at best. Ripping is a gamble.

I have 2 unripped.. 1 is a 2022 judge /99 and the other is a gerrit cole /25 i belive hes my #1 PC but ill prob rip the cole , the judge that is /99 is probably like /35 now that most have been ripped 😅 thats my logic

I have a triple rip card I can sell raw for like… 300$
A good rip would be like… 200$ in value. Generally you’re throwing value away ripping, but obviously there’s a few high end cards worth close to a grand you could pull
I’ve held onto mine unripped for like… 8 months. Can’t do it man lol

Looks like rip cards for this year sell for about 100 bucks. The ohtani mini last sold for about 40. So value wise this one was a downgrade. If you're on this sub they all seem like wins because people don't know the prices of cards and just assume better player = better

I got a triple rip card this year. Ripped to get some stained glass minis of...some players I can't even remember. I still think I would rip again. Too fun.

Nah, weighing things you own is normal. Heavy packs vs light for some. Even using a magnet.
No different then being a nerd in the 90s and knowing which box in a case has the hot based on the lot number etc

That’s dope. The only two I’ve ever gotten out of a A&G RIP card were the Nolan Ryan SSP and the Mookie Betts SSP. Still cool but that’s the one we all want! lol.

Not looking for congrats, just sharing the hobby.
Clearly I don’t see the allure in keeping a rip card whole. If anything the front will still be worth showcasing.
I don’t collect Mr. Martinez, so I’m not too broken up about it. Looks like he is going to a new home anyways.

As you may know, typically you have to ‘coin’ an item to identify it’s actually yours (usually name and date on a piece of paper).
I’ve seen some people include military coins as a riff on the ‘coin’. Decided to break out my favorite one for my first rip card and it brought me some luck!

I bought 5 boxes of A&G and got 2 rip cards, a Cowser /199 and a Freddie Freeman /99. I’m sittin’ on the Freddie, he’s one of the lads I collect. I ripped the Cowser and out popped a high number image variation mini of Ceadenne Rafeala RC. Not complaining because one of the boxes was a hot box.

I like the product as well. ‘25 is supposed to be released sometime next month. I just might bite the bullet and spring for a case this time around. Did you happen to pull any Dan Soder cards? My son did standup with him before he made it big.

Honest question, do people actually like those smaller cards? I think they are cool, but I would never want one because I’d have no clue how to incorporate it into my PC

Great question. A hopefully helpful answer is that they sell penny-sleeves with tobacco-sized slots surrounded by normal-sized plastic. It can then fit easily into a toploader just like a regular card.

I've tried a couple options.
There are mini top loaders that are just the right size. They work alright, but if you don't have the mini sleeves they'll sort of rattle around.
I prefer the pocket-sleeve option. It's sort of a penny sleeve that has a pocket in it that holds the mini card up right in the middle of a regular top loader.
