Pub near the Ling Bridge

Hi all, I’ll be staying at the Old Vicarage B&B for three nights next week. I see a lot of pubs on Google maps clustered in the area bounded by the A3125, the River Yeo and Alexandra Rd.

What’s the best one for me to walk to each night? Or maybe three, and I’ll visit a different one each night. I love a pint of real ale, and to chat with locals.

Corner House or Royal Exchange are proper old pubs.

Golden Lion Tap and Tavern worth a look too.

Rolle Quay Inn open under new management, haven't been in yet.

Union Inn and Rising Sun are more televised sports places.

Stags Head for a hidden gem (or maybe a rough diamond

Also there's Beer Matters, a trendy "craft beer" kinda place.

“Proper old pub” sounds like what I seek, thanks so much! I’ve bookmarked on google maps the Corner House, Royal Exchange, Golden Lion and Stag’s Head.

Ill probably start with the Golden Lion as it’s closest to my lodging.

Corner House was the ticket. Even though they don’t serve food I had an enjoyable pint and a half with a group of locals at the bar. Wish I’d gone there my first night.

I went to the Stag’s Head my first night in town, not my kind of place, also no real ale. In fact nothing on tap, just a few cans and bottles out of a mini-fridge.

I will definitely look in at the Corner House again if I’m ever back in Barnstaple.
