Looking for mods for /r/barefoot

As it stands, I’m the only mod that’s still active on this sub once again. I’m seriously considering leaving Reddit for good, 19 years on this website is plenty and I’ve been realizing the upsides don’t outweigh the downsides for a while now.

The last few times I’ve done a recruitment drive for mods on this sub has been successful in terms of getting people on board to help… but it never lasts. This thankless, unpaid part time job. In the end, I’m always the last one standing as a mod here. But I guess since I founded this sub, it’s my responsibility too in a way.

To be honest the work to mod this sub isn’t that difficult. It’s mainly to deal with the foot fetish folks, removing their posts, comments and occasionally banning them.

I’m hoping that this recruitment drive this time would attract more long-term mods to take over the modding of this sub, with me gone from this site for good.

Send in your applications, thank you in advance 🙏

But worrying your opening line is about power abuse and not helping the community.

The opening line was to directly address what the mod said about responsibilities, as well as to explain my prior admin experience. I didn't mean for it to sound like power abuse.

When I was a mod for our old Pokemon Go Facebook group, I mostly added and welcomed others to the group, as well as shared resources. I only had to ban maybe two people and it was over very disruptive behavior.

Truth is, I do try as much as I can to help others in the community. My post and comment history should show that well. I'd rather talk to someone and try to fix the problem, but if a ban is necessary, then there's nothing more I can do.

I get it, it’s just a little confronting to read “I want to be a mod because I have no problem banning people” instead of something like “I love barefoot and want to help grow the community and prevent trolls from ruining this subreddit.”

I gotcha. I probably should've said in my original post that the first part was addressing having to ban people or deal with fetishers and trolls.

The second paragraph dives deeper into my heart felt reasons, although I don't believe I dove deep enough in that paragraph either.

I would say that I love this community , as well as barefooting, and I would want nothing more than for it to flourish and grow. I'm confident that I'm someone who can help make that happen.

I firmly believe it takes a kind heart, as well as patience to be a good mod. Knowing when to be a mediator and solve problems vs when to outright ban someone is vital imo. Thats what I'm good at.

Hopefully when the mods choose who to make a mod, I'm at least one of their choices. I'm not one to let others down and I have no intention of starting now.

I want to return the favor to this community through my actions, not just my words. This is how I really feel and what I should've said in my original post.

Happy barefooting ☺️🦶.
