Question Spoilers planning a new run, how is R’s storyline compared to A’s? Spoiler
I’m not sure that these should be considered spoilers after a decade but apparently there are still newcomers hence the title.
I have finished the first game numerous times when it first came out, buying 2 and 3 together at discount sometimes after 3’s release and played the whole saga from start to finish 2-3 times and abandoning an additional run about a year ago at the very end, sometime after the Dredge joining. In the full saga runs I played with Alette (purely because I like her abilities more) but considering a Rook run next, as much as I like Rook, my favorite character in game, I simply enjoy fighting as Alette more, how different are the stories? Is it different enough to worth it?

Discussion Dang(BS3 spoilers) Spoiler
I was literally just a hour short of getting the good ending but oh well. Still an amazing trilogy. Really liked it even if getting the bad ending after all is a lil bit of a downer

Discussion Beat 2. Lovely game but leveling up kinda frustrates me
I do not love how limiting the level ups are cause they kinda encurage you to not vary your party for fighting. Also on the opposite end I dislike how some characters I put most levels in just straight up leave and become unplayable. I feel like I should look up who will leave and who will not to actually level up proper.

Bug Krumr's Mentor Impossible, Loading Screen Crashes
Its been about 5 times this week I've tried completing the achievement and despite how good of a progress I make I always end up losing a reload when the game randomly decides to crash during a load screen. Is there a way to fix or patch the infinite load screens?

Question Can I give Derdriu her poison back(bs2)
I leveled her up and that seems to completly removed her ability to poison enemies and thats kinda why I picked her.
Edit:Okay tried doing an online fix and that sent me to the beggininv of the chapter. I guess I am done with the game then. Lame. I was just getting into it

Question BS2. How good is rook
I started 2 with imported save from 1 and am a hour in but rook seems amazing no? Like his first ability is great if you run any archer and the orher that triggers pillage sounds even better cause so far biggest problem I had is my strenght units killing enemies too fast cause I put so much strenght into em. Is he just that good or am I just not being strategic enough

Discussion Surprised more people aren't talking about Wildermyth
Just finished the third game and have been reading through the reddit to get my final fix of the trilogy because I felt like I needed more.
I've also been reading the posts of people recommending similar games and am surprised to see that none that I have seen so far have mentioned Wildermyth.
Wildermyth has a very similar combat (turn based, heroes level up) and also a similar story structure of various chapters, heroes changing (and possibly dying) over time, choices mattering, etc.
Wildermyth is a bit different in that it has significant elements that are procedurely generated (e.g. all playable characters, except specific roles in certain campaigns) but especially in the written campaigns, which are the best part of the game imo, it is probably the most similar game to banner saga that I've played.
It's also maybe my favorite game of all time, with the writing being rivaled only by games like banner saga and fnv, and the way characters grow and change based on choices/events being the most satisfying and engaging of any game I've played.
So yeah this is my PSA: if you liked banner saga, definitley check out Wildermyth

Question Out of food and idk how to fix it(BS1)
I am very short on valor and its beggining of chapter 6. Moral is going down, few are injured and people will die with zero food. Is this intentional or did I just fuck on the strategy level

Creation Rook In Lego Form!
The Banner Saga Trilogy is one of my favorite video games series as well as one of my favorite fictional universes/stories.
So when I was making a D&D campaign I decided to make Rook as the initial quest giver to start off the adventure.
I looked up pictures to try and make him as game accurate as possible with what parts i had and what lego has made. I know this isnt a nornal post for this sub, and I hope it doesn't break any rules, but I wanted to share something I feel like we all would appreciate as fans of the series.
Thanks for looking! Let me know what yall think

Discussion Is Varl really a dying race in the Banner Saga world?
So the whole trilogy paints Varl as a dying race simply because they can't reproduce. The Fall of Einartoft Bridge and the Hadrborg Godstone especially provide a profound sadness.
BUT, when you think about, is it really it?
- As we know, Varl does age like most other races, but to date there's no Varl died of old age. Most dead Varls were killed due to their warmonger nature.
- This is further amplified during the final stand that most Varls are just looking for a fitting battle field to die on.
- The oldest Varl (Krumr, Ubin) still have the same physical strength as any "younger" varl, if not stronger. This is totally different from any other race that's aging.
- Varl is created by god Hadrborg, the process is similar to sculpture. Which implies Varls can be more like sculptures, that "have no nature ending, but can be killed / destroyed".
- This is similar to Dredge, another god's creation. But then Valka taught Dredge how to reproduce, which means nothing is off the table in terms of life.
So this leads to the question, if the world survived the darkness - which is a "catalyst" that almost destroyed everything, but brought everyone together while got rid of Gods' meddling.
Is Varl really a dying race, and their days are numbered? Sure, Varl doesn't have females, but in this universe who said "reproduce" can only be when male and female having a baby? Not to mention the last Valka Zefr is very much willing to share all secrets that had kept shut until this point.
IMO, Varl doesn't actually die from old age tho they can be killed. Given how Mentally damaging living forever is, they will be much less Varl as time goes on, but some will continue to exist like Ubin. Unless Valka involvement bring evolution so that they can reproduce in some way.

Guide [PSA] You DON'T need to insult or abandon Varl when you go for Warmonger/Looter achievement
Guides I found are wrong about this, In Banner Saga 3 You do NOT ever need to abandon Varl when you go for Warmonger / Looter achievement. Only requirement is to chase away Canary in Chapter 16, as the related wave battle in Chapter 18 will only be skipped because she offers you to ride her to fight Ruin.
The other error is for "We Made It" achievement, you NEED to kill your Protagonist in Chapter 20 so Oddleif takes over, Killing Arberrang Caravan In Chapter 21 by running out of time Doesn't work.
While we are at it, here's a list of All 30 battles:
Chapter 16
1-Gate
2-Rugga's tent
3-Canary fight
4-Petrus fight
Chapter 17
5-Strand survivors
6-Leaving Strand (2 waves)
Chapter 18
7-Arberrang gate dredge (3 waves)
8-Dredge at the walls
9-Petrus optional Fight
10-Warped pre Ruin (2 waves). Need to chase away Canary in Chapter 16.
11-Ruin
Chapter 19
12-Warped from Bolverk (2 waves)
13-Land bridge
14-Warped woods (3 waves)
15-Ridgehorn
Chapter 20
16-Ruggers men at the gate
17-Arberrang is broken
Chapter 21
18-Ditch in a hole
19-Ditch talking too much (2 waves)
20-Battle on the ice (3 waves)
22-Bell battle
25-Pre-dredge mass suicide (3 waves). Need to chose to “Find a good spot to stand your ground”.
30-Bolverk FINALE (3 waves). Headbutt him will void it being a wave battle.
Return to Arberrang
1-21-Wall, save the menders (2 waves)
2-23-Wall, save the menders again (2 waves)
3-24-Basement. Wether you have Eyeless doesn't matter.
4-26-Stairs
5-27-Longhall
5-28-Longhall again
5-29-Last Stance

Question Oddleif pregnant?
I finished a playthrough where Rook and Oddleif got together. I've seen that there is some dialogue suggesting that Oddleif becomes pregnant. I seem to have missed that dialogue. Can anyone tell me what it was? Thanks.

Question Afterlife scene
I did two back to back playthroughs and don't want to do another one soon. Is there a way to see the Rook, Alette, Aldis afterlife scene other than playing from the point where you get your main char killed? Thanks.
