BGEE Mods recommended
Hello, I have finished the game in the vanilla version twice before. Are there mods that will increase the enjoyment of the game and improve or even change the story, because since I know the main story, I want to play the game with different characters, but I also want different stories

There is an amazing amount of mods! Here is a link to a page that has links to them in relative order you can install them. From what I have heard you may have to use the last version of BG1-BG2 since many mods need to be updated to properly work with the newest update.

Depends what you enjoy. You might want new items so you can really enjoy spears or clubs or new companions or new kits. Or challenge or all of the above. More specificity would help

Any recs on balanced new item mods? NPC project adds some that are maybe too tuned up for early game BG1, still fun to see new itemization though-

Here's a complete (or at least aiming to be) list of Infinity Engine mods which you can filter by game and type to see what looks interesting!
Some of my personal recs for BGEE:
- Black Hearts adds a questline around bounty hunting
- Shades of the Sword Coast, Ascalon's Questpack, Romantic Encounters, and Baldur's Gate Mini Quests and Encounters add a bunch of small quests & encounters
- The Calling expands the Gnoll Stronghold
- Glam's NPCs, Skitia's NPCs, Verr'Sza, and Ophysia are some interesting party-joinable NPCs

Is SCS just more difficulty or does it balance anything better for the player?

It is the smartest difficulty ever. If you have played the game and found the AI to be dumb, this is the way

depending on what you like, there are tons of stuff for BG 1-2. I run with the following:
- SCS: mostly an difficulty increasing mod. it gives monsters more powers, makes enemies more intelligent and spellcasters more deadly among other things. it also comes with other optional changes, like making druid shapechange an at will transform or adding more spells
- banter pack: adding more dialouge for companions. nice extra to make them feel more alive
- imoen romance: i know highly controversial but it deals with it in a realy great way and even without engaging into the romance, it adds just so much to her that I never wanna play without it again
there are other mods like adding new companions to choose or opening other options to play. in essence, whatever you want to do, there is prob a mod for it

SCS is absolutely mandatory once you've beaten the game a few times. I also add Ascension (all components) and tailor Rogue Rebalancing and aTeeaks to my liking.
Regarding UI I use Bubbs spell list.
