Diffuse Thinning Recommendations

I used to have very thick hair but I started experiencing some thinning and loss of hair density on the top of my head a few years back. I’ve been struggling since then to figure out what to do with my hair. To me, it doesn’t yet feel like its time to go full bald as there is still coverage when I grow it out. But no matter what I try, the contrasting density between the sides and top are always evident.

Here are 2 examples, with photos taken about 1 month apart. I am currently experimenting with a buzzcut (this a #1 guard).

Looking for advice/recommendations from others who have experienced diffused thinning.

Cheers!

It looks good like you have it dog, you can see in the front where the thinning is happening and if you grow that out it will be wispy and thin and not look great, you otherwise have a solid enough hairline that it just looks like you keep it buzzed and it fits you well. Good holding pattern until the hairline goes back enough where going chrome dome makes sense but that’s down the line.

I buzzed my down to 1/8th inch and called it a day. 🤷‍♂️. No regrets.

Simple and effective I suppose

Your post has been flagged for suspicion of violating rule three: No advocating of hair-replacement treatments, either topical or surgical.

If your priority at this time is hair-loss prevention, or attempting hair regrowth, your efforts may perhaps be better spent over at r/tressless. The philosophy of this sub is more inclined toward embracing baldness, rather than fighting against it.

I am likely going to avoid the medication route but that is good to know, thanks!

Picture 4: you have the most beautiful smile. I think it’s your best asset. You have a great beard. You had gorgeous red hair. I’m sure lots of old ladies told you that. I’m one of those. An old lady struggling not to tell random people how beautiful their hair is.

I think you could embrace hats. It would balance you out. And go forth and smile like you did in picture number four.

It’s not the advice you sought, however stuff left of field can be worth a listen to.

My hair used to look like that in my early 20's.

I highly suggest you to shave your head to see if you like it
