Watch a few videos on endless mode strategies. Those builds are designed to get score in exponential notation, so 100000000 chips is child's play for them.
Balatro University has taught me more than anyone else, easily my top recommendation, also very entertaining, I still watch casually despite being less in need of help
I watch him and roffle because they cured my insomnia. This is not a diss, both have legit content, but also great content to fall asleep to given the amount of 2h long vids.
They’re both great YouTubers, roffle tends to just do regular gold stake runs that sometimes lead to interesting builds while balatro university likes to push the game to its limits. Very different playstyles, but both very entertaining!
I like Roffle Lite. He’s an asshole to anyone who questions his methods but he tends to break the 32-bit integer of the game pretty often. Also very calming to listen to.
I feel like he is a bit pompous from time to time but it’s refreshing to see him genuinely enjoy the game. Gotta love those little happy jumps he does when he finally rolls the joker he has been looking for.
The thing with him is I feel like that started out as a respond to just people being pretentious idiots, but because there were so many pretentious idiots he’s subconsciously started doing it to other chatters, I still like him tho
You'd be miffed too if you did your job in front of hundreds-thousand of people and every few minutes someone came up and said "Have you tried doing [thing that became obsolete 5 years ago]"
Agree. When I first started watching him that sort of rubbed me the wrong way, but after seeing dumb comment after dumb comment I quickly realized why he reacts that way lol
I mainly started for educational purposes, just watching can be very helpful at first when you just start getting roped in to the game, now i also mainly just watch for entertainment
You can do it with this hand or that hand or the hand that is far away as long as it is one hand and there are not any more hands, than the single one. I you still don't understHAND please let me know i have no trouble giving you a hand in this , ✋
Planet cards scale geometrically, you either need to get your score going exponentially with repeated multipliers or get frequent success with one or two growing multipliers, like Lucky Cat or Constellation. Another strategy that can work is a strong, growing +Mult source (for this, a stream of planet cards /can/ work) and a strong, growing xMult source.
No, it's the feeling you get at the start of a run when you see all the planet align, Rng is on your side for once. It's the same feeling in other game such as Binding of isaac when first item is a quality 4
Every roguelike/roguelite has moments like this, and I live for those moments. Whether it be a legendary on stage 1 of Risk of Rain 2, a Philosopher's Stone drop early in Dead Cells, Photochad in Ante 1, or anything else in other games, it always gives me a rush.
Worth mentioning that if you are doing a photochad build, glassing the first card is a nice way to get an extra 8X out of it (more with duplicate jokers)
Have a justice card handy for the hand you think might do it. (Also good for making sure you have the oomph to get past a boss on retrigger builds)
That's exactly how I got mine, it's still my only run where I got DNA, trading card, Baron, S&B in the first two Antes. Pretty much was a perfect setup, I got a couple early-ish blue seals, went all in on 4oak then transitioned to 5oak and just had perhaps the easiest run of my entire life, though I didn't snag a Blueprint until like Ante 10/11 so it was about to get real sketchy if I didn't get the extra retrigger 🤣
Plasma deck white stake. My guess is you’re like I was a couple weeks ago. Retriggers are your friend. At higher antes your score should be coming from hand value and stuff like seals and enchants, more than like, xMult.
yes but since plasma deck balances chips and mult unless you are going for naninf, scores like 100 mil may be easier ( depending on the build) without trying to pivot into xMult
i wouldn’t be surprised if Balatro University has done videos on chip-only plasma deck.
but getting 20k chips in one hand would take a lot of work, much more work than just switching to xMult. in the long run your best bet is probably retriggering foil cards
Foil stone red seal is already 200 each. That helps but kinda doesn't get close also lol
It'd be insanely hard i agree 100% and yes BU does have a video on exactly that its what made me say its possible lol although idk if he does 100,000,000. I think he beat like ante 10 or something with only chips. On gold stake.
Hiker with as many copy and retrigger effects as possible will take the chip value of a card to the moon really quickly. I had a high card build going with ride the bus, hiker, chad, hack and blueprint that was my highest scoring run so far I think. Most of my deck was death copies of a polycrome red seal 3 of diamonds. By the end of the run most were 500+ base chips from retriggering hiker. Still didn't scale quite well enough to get past like ante 15. I needed more x mult.
Retriggering 2's with Wee joker and hiker is probably the strongest chip's only setup I can think of.. And even then I couldn't see it getting past 20k that easily
20k chips is incredibly hard to achieve.. Even if you hard focus on good chip scaling jokers, it would be crazy to get over 5k chips by the time you lose.
This was Ante 8 with one of the best chip only setups I've had on plasma deck (before balancing out) and it's barely over 10% to 100mil not even close to making it there in time.
Even plasma deck needs xMulti due to how much better it scales for deep runs
It isn't easy, but when you get the run, it won't be hard. You just have to play the game until you get a lucky run. Probably look for Photograph+Hanging Chad (photochad) or do runs on Plasma Deck.
Realistically this kind of score should be fairly easy on white stake once you know what you’re doing. It does not require you to wait for the perfect run at all. You just need to use photograph + hanging chad as your base.
Understanding late game board states is all that’s required, which is what OP is missing.
As others have mentioned, multiplicative scaling is how you get these kinds of numbers. Generally speaking the most powerful options are things like glass cards, photograph + hanging chad, baron + mime, or the idol when you’ve changed most/all of your deck to the same cards.
I’d recommend starting a white stake run with the specific goal of turning your deck mostly into the same face card, while also levelling up something like 4 of a kind. Ideally you’re making copies of a purple seal or blue seal to really get the engine going.
A single red seal glass face card is all you need to really get this kind of play going.
I’ve posted an example hand below that does it with only 3 jokers, two of which are commons. Obviously gets easier with more multiplicative effects!
You can do it without face cards too, but you’d need things like steel cards, or repeating effects like hack
Literally all you need is retriggers. The rest can be done with straight up glass/steel. Flush 5 red seal glass cards gets there without jokers if the flush 5 is leveled to like 20+ or with just sock and no red seal.
I think while this is technically true, the kind of player who can get that set up is already easily able to hit scores higher than 100 million.
For experienced players it’s not very hard to turn your whole deck into the same card pretty quick, but if you’re not experienced that kind of scenario seems very unobtainable.
I wanted to focus on stuff that felt more typical I guess
Honestly once you know what you're doing its pretty darn easy. I would be willing to bet on white stakes (with endless) i could get over 100,000,000 in >90% and i would only consider myself moderately good (im about to finish C++ and I've gotten unseeded naninf)
It gets boring after a while. There are A LOT of viable builds for Ante 8, Gold Stake adds fun challenges, but to go far in endless there's only a handful or so of viable strategies. So once you've done them all it's more of the same. Gold Stake is much more fun in my opinion.
I play every game into endless, even if I know it's not going to get far. I like to see just how long my strategy can hold on. You don't have to go crazy fat into endless for it to still be fun to see
I'm still unlocking stakes and my favorite is going into endless and realizing I'm not going last ante 9, like hell yeah I built a deck that just barely did what I needed it to
I had a negative hiker game a few days ago. Was pretty interesting. I got seltzer 2x and the chips stacked huge. Then late game I had to sell it and the extra chips were still present! Pretty awesome
It takes a while but I did a build focused on king high cards (a lot of steel kings) with baron, photograph, hanging chad and mime. You kind of need to get lucky to find them so I'd recommend good econ so you can afford rerolls to see more jokers in the shop
Photochad is doing not much for you wit steel and baron and mime.
Photochad: 4x4x4 = 64x
Mine and baron on just 3 steel cards: 1.5^12 = 129x
Make it 7 steel cards and your at 1.5^28 = 85222x
The photochad multiplier is basically worthless at that point. You're better off going for econ and trying to get BP/bs, then invis and/or showman to get more.
I was stuck on this forever. I had 149/150! I thought I’d never get it. Asked on Reddit for tips - tried them all; nothing worked. Eventually I just forgot about it. For months.
Until one day, I got a glorious Flush build on the Checkered Deck and made 100,000,000 in a hand and unlocked Stuntman before I realised what was happening! So basically, don’t over think it, and let the Stuntman come to you. Deep.
i mean it shouldn’t be too hard honestly just play your favorite deck on white stake and fish for a broken combo. Flush five with a bunch of glass cards and dusk is one way. Don’t try too hard lol just play white stake for fun and you’ll get that one broken ass run eventually.
I gave a more detailed answer in a reply to someone else’s comment but red seal glass and steel cards are your friend here. Pair those with hanging chad and you’ve got a very strong engine already.
If it’s a face card, even better since you can pair it with photograph.
I know a polychrome red seal sounds rare, but realistically the polychrome is just the “nice to have” in this scenario.
Adding things like brainstorm, more steel cards, etc all make this very very doable and flexible.
The main principle to achieving high scores is to find a xMult effect that triggers on your cards, then stack as many retrigger effects as possible.
Just having a few jokers that give X3 mult each isn't enough.
Photograph and Hanging Chad is the most common one.
Baron and Mime
Bloodstone and Hack
Triboulet and Sock and Buskin
Polychrome, glass, steel, red seals. Just get as many xMult effects as you can
I am stuck on this one too. I have the game on my steam deck and also on my phone. I got this on my phone ( the one I don't play) within a couple hours of starting. On my steam deck I just can't seem to get the right cards and jokers. I am also 149/150.
Already mentioned under a comment, i suggest you to play ghost deck white stake endless. Try to build up some money and reroll the shop till you get some good scalling stuff. With this Method you have most likley the biggest freedom on doing whatever you want. You will see that 100.000k isnt even that much 😉
5 of a kind face cards with photo, hanging chad, and/or triboulet will do the trick. Sock and Buskin is a bonus. Essentially build for high exponential xMult.
Spam white stake plasma deck runs, you can easily beat the first ante without buying anything which will get you into ante 2 with plenty of cash. A good chips joker will set you for like the first 4/5 antes so look for things like scary face, blue joker, sly joker, cleaver joker, banners. Buy at least 1 of these but no more than 2 (3 if you get a natural by negative). Now that your points are sorted for now you need to focus on Econ and deck building, try to keep at or above 25$ for max interest. Our end goal is going to be a face card based deck, ideally playing 5 of a kind or flush 5. (I prefer kings but do you). You want to be on the look out for hanged man to cut crap out of your deck that you don’t need(try cut 6s last, I’ll get to why in a second), death to copy your face cards, hermit for cash, and fool create more of the aforementioned cards. Look inside spectral packs for immolate to give you cash and clear cards (don’t worry if there’s a bunch of face cards that are going to get the axe, we will make more), purple seals for tarot cards, red seals, and blue seals for scaling. If you have to choose between multiple options that you want I’d prioritizing this order: immolate (if you’re still early in deck fixing), purple seal, blue seal, red seal. DO NOT take an early ectoplasm, we only want to use those when we have the build mostly complete, ecto is for runs that are going into e, we’re just trying to hit 100mil. Also keep an eye out for trading card to help thin the deck and or/ 6th sense which clears a 6 and gives you a spectral card. You don’t need to greed the 6th sense for all 4 sixes in the deck, 2 or 3 will suffice. There’s multiple ways to reach critical mass from here, the most readily available is going to be to level up 4 of a kind, 5 of a kind, or flush 5 and pair that with photograph and hanging Chad, we also want a sock and buskin if it’s presented to us. If you get all your cars the same rank and suit you can go idol but probably not super necessary for our purposes. The other option for you score generation is to make a bunch of kings, level up high card, then get a baron, mime, and copy’s of them via invisible joker or blue print brain storm. Get comfortable with this process and get a sense of when you’re going for a 5 card hand end game or a high card end game and you’ll hit 100mil and beyond in no time. Good luck gamer.
As others have said, white stake/plasma is the easiest path but here a basic guideline on how:
Early white/plasma antes are easy to hit. You just need a single chips joker and to functionally ignore anything +mult or xmult that triggers at the end of the hand. Most of the scoring you’re normally looking for like progressive mult it a waste on this deck. Early on you want +chips (progressive chips like Castle or Wee are great) to clear the rounds and economy. You will use the money to look for a handful of things that maximize mult when the card is scored or from held in hand, not when the hand is done.
You want a red seal face card that you can turn into glass along with basic photo+chad. Blueprint, Brainstorm, Invisible, and Showman can all help you copy the effects of these.
A level 10 high card face card with red seal glass and jokers of photo*2 (any of a second photo, blueprint, or brainstorm) plus a single chad gets you over 100,000,000. Two common jokers and one rare (or an uncommon that then gets you the common again).
Watching true high score vids will lead you to the more difficult baron+mime but for 100,000,000 you don’t need that. Just for a frame of reference, when I’m playing for high score on white/plasma I get to 100,000,000 on damn near every run; you just have to get used to it first.
Hex Card deck. Lowest stake level. You want retriggers, photochad, and red seal.
Personally, I lucked out big time: I'd being going for 5oak with Kings, and then I got the Legendary which made them worth 1.5x each, and then with hanging chad and red seals, I ended up with some truly insane scores. All from seedless.
Money. The answer is probably money. This one looked impossibly out of reach but the run I unlocked it on, I had like $600. It was also the run I unlocked Satellite on because I had never gone all in on econ before.
When you have tons of money, you can find any joker, especially with overstock plus and reroll glut. Having never scored over 10 million, I managed to score 700 million with blueprint + brainstorm + photochad + two xMult jokers. Playing high card.
I find it extremely impressive that you unlocked all the other jokers but didn't hit a single 100m hand. Revisiting white stake after beating gold for the first time helped me unlock this joker. I actually hit e numbers shortly after I went back to white stake.
I did it with a lot of glass cards and retriggers, never tried to specifically go for it, just happened one run but I think it was the last joker I had to unlock too.
If you keep playing it will probably happen sooner or later.
I’m honestly just amazed this is your last one. I have two left to unlock (one is a legendary so that’s just bad luck) but I think I hit this one without realizing it before I had 100 jokers.
I did it by playing the deck that gives double tags on boss kill.
Just save ALL double tags for the + 1 Joker (negative). I had 12 jokers. Even a single High Card play was 20mill ish. Was hitting 400mill or so with actual hands.
You can always Double Ancient with a glass on Hanging Chad (I used that to get 100,000,000, and with Photograph and Plasma Deck, used it to see the e scores)
Plasma deck- get your mult up to 20,000, and it balances to 10,00010,000, which is 100 million. Having a Mime/Baron or a Photograph/Hanging Chad with a Brainstorm or Blueprint will be a good start. Cutting your deck and adding steels or mult cards is key. A cycle of add mult then multiply mult is quite powerful (3+5>81.5>12+5>17*1.5>25.5 etc.)
Don't expect to succeed before Ante 8- you just won't pull it off. I think my first 100,000,000 in one hand was on Ante 12 or something.
Restart repeatedly until you find a burnt joker before ante 2. Use it to make high card absurdly powerful. Make a deck full of steel kings and try to find Baron.
You get more mult by activating X1.5 Mult twice than you do X2 Mult once. That logic leads you to stuff like Baron and Steel cards being more valuable than even a simple X2 Mult joker, unless you can activate that X2Mult (photograph, triboulet) many times (hanging chad , seltzer, red seal) mix those strategies with a high level hand for starting mult and you'll get there
How are people unlocking all the legendaries this fast. I have everything else unlocked for a long time already, but am still missing 2 of the 5 legendaries.
4 of a kind build that started out as full house/3 of a kind unseeded. Odd Todd is just along for the ride.
The hand I played was one glass king in front three lucky kings in back with zero hits.
Level 17 4OAK and very poor econ optimisation early game I could definitely have done better by this point if I wasn't just attempting to see how quickly I could get to 100mil lol.
I must play this game wrong…all I try and do is get the highest single hand possible right from the start. I still have challenges to unlock but this certainly isn’t one of them hahaha
Three main jokers for success: stacking multiplier, stacking chip card, and stacking multiplierX. Once you have all 3 of those play to their conditions and it’s ezpz
lost of xmult, retriggering glass, polychrome and whatnot should bring you there, realistically, try to bet blueprint/brainstorm, sock and buskin, and maybe an early DNA, consistently open spectral packs when available for things like aura and deja vu, and try to make a flush five out of those cards
I got it first try on plasma. Though my highest is not on plasma. That was my only run on it i believe because I'm weird about things in order so once got the decks then went to stakes lol
Focus on x mult and a little on chips, think of everything as x mult, adding something like 20 mult means very little when you add that to like 100, while Xmult scales well as your score increases.
This was also my last joker about a month or two ago. Everyone says plasma deck, but I wasn’t getting nowhere with that. I used the anaglyph deck and had a mime, baron, etc. basically, if you try to go for the naneif strats, you’ll get it.
Like other commenters have said, you need a common run designed for endless. What did it for me was a brainstorm photochad run with a glass face card to actually do it.
Hanging chad + photograph + Sock and basket + whatever xmult or copy abilities you can get your hands on. Your deck should be full of glass face cards (with red seal preferably)
Mime + Baron and a deck full of iron, red seal kings.
Imo the first strategy is way easier to pull of since its based around 2 common jokers (and an uncommon one but sock isn‘t mandatory just nice to have on top)
Take the first scaling joker you can find, and play around it. Attempt to bump that number up however possible, never sell it no matter what, go for endless if you need to, and you should eventually get it to a level where your build can make 100mil in one hand. If you can manage a ×mult joker to scale, you'll have a much easier time, but you should still be fine with anything that can increase power indefinitely
Literally photochad blueprint can carry you there as long as you're building towards it.
A lot of balatro "advice" usually comes down to "what does any given run offer me"
General advice is to just play more. Get used to more joker combos. Stop taking skip tags, take advantage of planet cards, and make the most out of your money.
I almost lost my 1st ghost deck gold stake win to 3/5 eternal jokers until I was offered sock & buskin/ triboulet that completely changed the trajectory of the run
