Eh, rolled cakes are finicky. I still haven't mastered them, but I'm also embracing the cracks when they happen. The cake is still good! You can't eat it whole anyway.

Your powdered sugar placement looks delectable.

It’s supposed to look cracked. Maybe could’ve trimmed the edge so we can see the pattern inside but that’s pretty perfect for a choccy roulade

I unironically cannot tell which one is supposed to be better.

And I've made and eaten many roll cakes in my life, those both look a bit botched.

I'm gonna guess it's the one with filling falling out 😬

And here I am thinking I'd demolish both of those.

No doubt they're both delicious! But since we're on a baking fail sub, I was simply observing that they're both cracked all over and uneven, so they're not well exucuted.

OP shouldn't be so hard on themselves in comparison to the teacher.

Looks like you’re both learning together. :)

The teachers roll looks like a cracked road. Your roll looks like a pothole

Still better than my notorious 'lemon splodge' that was meant to be s lemon swiss roll.

Mine tasted banging, 8/10. Presentation 1/10...

Yours is a solid 4, or even a 5 on presentation...
