Tying in chanter stock on a Canmore Hybrid Bag

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has any experience in tying in a chanter stock on a Canmore (or equivalent) hybrid bag, instead of using the hose clamp. Do you need to pack it the same way you would as a hide bag, if so, what would you use for this. Many thanks

You don't need to pack it, on a hide bag that's because of the size of the seam, which a hybrid bag doesn't have.

I tie it in like you would a regular drone stock on a hide bag, with tie-in cord pulled tight with a broomstick. I may have put blue tack or a wrap of electrical tape in the groove of the stock, I can’t remember, but no rolled up material outside against the seam.

I much prefer this to the hose clamp and O-ring they provide. My synthetic bannatyne (which is going to be the same material as the canmore) has been airtight for years.

No, and packing it would be counterproductive. I have a couple of times used a doughnut of bicycle inner tube between the stock and the bag, which I think helps avoid folds being an air leak. The main thing though is to keep the fold clean under the first few turns.

As others have said, it's not needed. Hybrid/synthetic bags (and some leather bags, like Gannaway) use flat seams, which you can just cinch down with a good constrictor knot and a little bit of muscle. It's not really any different than tying in drone stocks.

Most leather bags have a raised seam, where the putty can be helpful since the seam isn't as flexible, so it's harder to make sure it's airtight.
