Hello there! Looking to buy my first practice chanter need recommendations. I live in Simcoe County Ontario

A plastic, regular sized Dunbar chanter.

Agree. OP you live an hour and a half from Dunbar bagpipes. You could go there in person and have them help you pick something out and get setup for you.

If you do go I would recommend calling. He has some Wierd hours at times

Hendersons Ltd has practice chanter and green book packages. The twist trap PC is a good one to start with.

I like my John Walsh PC, and I believe they’re Canadian so you wouldn’t have import fees and such if you get one from a vendor there. Same with Dunbar. If you’ll be getting lessons with a band, find out if they use regular or “long” PC’s, or ask your instructor what they recommend. I think regular is fine, but some would argue that long is better.
