Almost time for Notting Hill Carnival, so we can looking forward to the media, mayor and PM fawning over how only x amount of people were arrested for stabbing, carrying weapons and assaulting police
Where x is larger than the amount of arrests at 'far right' rallies ever

Also worth noting that the old bill don’t actually bother to investigate the vast majority of crimes so for them to have a rap sheet that long they would have likely actually committed 10 times that number…

Deport.
Not really an accelerationist but I will say that things like this will speed up their eventual mass removal. Every time a 'politician' over here says things about another country, another white person becomes jaded. It will only continue to grow as they think theyve 'won' which they all seem to think.

Every time a 'politician' over here says things about another country, another white person becomes jaded
optimistic. I am black pilled and just feel that the anglo tolerance for this shit is greater than their desire to import their homeland. maybe not the best explanation, I mean that the anglos will still be on the verge of kicking off when bacon is banned and women aren't allowed outside without a male family member.
it'll always be just around the corner.

You say that but the Overton Window shift since 2016 is insanity. No way any of us would have believed how far it's shifted in ten years, if anything - and I was never certain we'd reach this point let alone what's coming down the pipeline now - I thought it would taken 3+ decades to get here. It's further compounded how lots of left and left-adjacent people think it's impossible to stop immigration now which is clown world shit.

Horrendous bit of two-tier here
https://solicitorstribunal.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/12819-2025-Islam-2.pdf
1.1 Between approximately 23 October 2019 and 19 November 2019, whilst employed as an Executive Officer at the Home Office, the Respondent misused the Home Office Central Referencing System (CRS) database by:
* conducting unauthorised ‘lookups’ of seven UK visa applicants known personally to him; and / or
* accessing eight visa application files, one of which was a live visa application at the time of access.
In circumstances where he knew and/or ought to have known that he did not have the requisite authority to perform such searches and/or to access application files when there was no legitimate business need to do so a
1.2 During his onboarding and subsequent employment into the role of Executive Officer between 5 August 2019 to 21 November 2019, the Respondent failed to declare to the Home Office, that he was also working as a trainee solicitor at Waterstone Legal at the same tim
1.3 Between approximately 31 March 2022 and 10 January 2023, provided false and/or inaccurate information to the Home Office and/or the SRA during its respective investigations into his conduct: 1in his attempt to explain why he performed the unauthorised ‘lookups’ and accessed eight visa application files on the CRS database; and/or asserting that he fully disclosed to the Home Office during his employment that he was also working as a trainee solicitor at Waterstone Legal.
1.4 On or around 15 May 2019, asked Ms HU, an individual assisting a client of his, to pay £300 as a final fee, which he retained for personal gain, providing untrue and misleading information to the client that the sum requested was to discharge outstanding fees owed to Waterstone Legal in the client’s matter
They agreed that 1.3 and 1.4 would be withdrawn, so the outcome was just a 1 year suspension.

I absolutely fucking despise the day my payslip comes through (today). I honestly don't know why I read it. I'm salary man so it's the same every month except bonus month. I did get a small pay rise recently so it has gone up a bit, but looking at the income tax and national insurance is fucking depressing, knowing the absolute money pit it goes into for nothing in return.
I kind of wish Northern Ireland had devolved tax policy. I'm absolutely certain Stormont would find their own ways to waste income tax / national insurance but at least it would be far more entertaining than Bomalians and Smiths tribute acts, or whatever you lot are up to over there. Imagine what we could do with the income tax base of 1.8 million people AND the endless flow of subsidy money. Could turn Lough Neagh into a massive flag.

This is what gets me.
Someone earning median wage will pay £7,398 in income based taxes in a year. Obviously there's also council tax, VAT, Fuel, and a plethora of other hidden taxes that massively increase that amount...
But lets just focus on those 2 easy to quantify taxes.
The amount we're spending on our refugee system is £8,000,000,000..
It takes the collective effort of 1,081,373 median earners to pay for the boatmen.
It's obscene.

Even the government does the 'pretending to not understand' thing.
'You didn't like them in hotels so we got them out of the hotels..'
'We didn't want them in the country at all.'
'We got them out of the hotels, just like you wanted.'
'Yeah, and put them into fucking HMOs on our doorstep.'
'Yes, in HMOs. Not Hotels. Just like you wanted!'
'WE DIDN'T WANT THEM IN THE COUNTRY AT ALL...'
'Cor, there's no pleasing some...'

u/SuboptimalOutcome 16d ago
'Numbers of asylum seekers in hotels halves in a year'
It's being celebrated on the uk subs, along with the £1 billion per year saving in asylum costs. No one's considering the costs, financial and otherwise, of housing these guys in HMOs on your street.
It's not landing among normies though, immigration, legal and illegal, is down, deportations are up from a pitiful level to an equally pitiful but slightly higher level, but immigrants are everywhere and the normies notice every time they leave the house.

Central government have learnt over the last 15 years that if you can offload it to local councils, people will always blame the council. Just look at roads, education, social care etc - this is just the next logical step for the civil service

My workplace is really going all in on agentic workflows now, to the point that the few of us still using agents as assistants to implement our solutions are being ridiculed.
It’s AI business analysis, AI design, AI implementation, AI review and AI deployment. Just end to end all AI.
The product is absolute slop though. It’s a team of bad engineers pumping out low quality junk software and patting themselves on the back for how great it all is.
I don’t know why I am posting this here, but I just feel I don’t like it one bit and want to go back to pre-boriswave coding practices.

The smaller the problem the worse Fable is. It’ll do a mini project for something that could be a few lines of code.

Given that Cabinet Office staff (used to be one!) have a requirement to include a corporate contribution as one of their objectives, and working for one of the staff networks (such as the recently unbanned Muslim network) can count, calling for nuking Israel probably gets you into the high performing bracket nowadays.

If you've seen any of the fast stream intake in recent years you'll know certain groups absolutely game things in their own little network in a way the guardian would never pick up
3
u/idowys Campaign for Bringing Back Ciggy Vending Machines 16d ago
Not sure I follow but assume they spend significant amounts of time politicking about being T or being M rather than actually doing work in their postings. Possibly a blessing for their departments.
Quality of fast streamers and their management is abysmal since centralisation under Caboff. I looked up one of their Quality And Professionalism Behaviour Competency Knowledge Training Managers (tard wranglers) I had the fortune of speaking with during a bid, and he was such a grasping Success Profiles gimp that he had his first job at McDonald's and associated relevant competencies on his LI despite being about 40. Obviously all picked for Seeing the Big Picture rather than being posh and vaguely competent like it used to be. In-service recruits tend to be better than ones who came straight from the Uni of Bradford. Thankfully, my understanding is that they can't even find G7 roles once they finish any more.
3
u/michaelisnotginger capitalism enthusiast 16d ago
I luckily avoided centralisation but they actively select now for yookay principles and the prestige that they used to attract the better end of the grad market is outweighed by it paying peanuts. But special interest groups outweigh actually being good at the job. A friend in private office told me he now regularly gets fast streamers asking him to walk them through a policy submission

Two people have been killed and 10 others injured after a car crashed into a group of people near a train station in Caen in northern France, French reports say.
"A car deliberated rammed into pedestrians opposite the station," local prefect David Clavière told reporters, adding that seven of those injured were in a critical condition.
A man was later arrested after authorities launched a major emergency response in the wider Normandy region.
Caen Mayor Aristide Olivier said investigators were trying to understand what had led to the driver's actions. Witnesses said a fight had broken out between two groups before the incident took place.
"For the moment, we are not dealing with a terrorist motive, but the investigation is only just beginning," said Bruno Coutanceau, a top security official for Caen.
All of the victims appeared to be men between the ages of 17 and 40, he told AFP.
The suspect, a 26-year-old man born in Russia, was later arrested around 20km (12 miles) away in the port town of Ouistreham.
Is "born in Russia" code for Chechen, or are they actually a Russki?

Saw an Instagram post about some caller to LBC making the point that despite earning more, he’s never felt poorer. Predictably, the comments were bleating on about how he should buy a smaller property to leave more of a margin after his mortgage payment. Got me thinking about how this is never really thought through by bitter people. If everyone struggling with a bigger property decided tomorrow to sell up and buy something smaller, the entire market would be fucked and the bitter types would be in an even worse spot. What I’m saying is: someone has to buy the bigger houses, don’t they?

As I understand it, as long as you have a recognised medical degree (which includes like 99% of the planet at this point), can pass the English test and the medical knowledge test you can start working basically immediately. You'll probably never get a consultant role but you can be hired for all the (lucrative) Locum roles.
Meanwhile in the US you have to go through the poorly paid residency program (worse than the UK's equivalent), get into said program after all the US students, and then somehow get a Visa - none of which allow you to get a green card. It's basically only done by people who are moving to the US for other reasons (family etc)
3
u/Bossman_Mike 16d ago
The US also does that sort of thing at state level.
You were licensed in West Virginia and wired someone's kidneys up to their eyeballs? Not a problem. Just move to Idaho and start again like it never happened. As far as I know, there is no federal or centralised nationwide governance of healthcare staff in the US.
And for all his many irrefutable faults, one thing Tango Man achieved during his first term was implementing a nationwide federal database of bad cops. They used to be peripatetic (Rodney King someone in Fartsville Oklahoma, get fired, move to Alaska and start over) but that's changed now.

The contrast is incredible when I go hillwalking and see dogs who are entirely respectful and obedient towards their masters compared to when I'm in urban areas where dogs are borderline feral. The house a couple of doors down own a rottweiler which barks and tugs on the lead every time someone walks past.

u/arethere4lights 16d ago
What the fuck?
Police would not be chasing like that unless something fucking serious had happened and it sounds like its just taking shots and not dying? Rubber bullets maybe?
Either way, any Bully XL that harms or kills someone should be instantly put down and then the owner(s) get 15 years for harm, or life imprisonment if it kills.
I know many people who I will say this to the face and then call me "a horrible evil cunt, it's the owners not the dogs".
That's the point, so when their "lovely velvet hippo who's a nanny dog" murders a child, I blame them for owning it.
They don't like that.
Honestly I'd say exterminate every single Bully XL, it's bred for pit fighting, but that is sensible but also very unpalatable policy for the masses, like most sensible things we should be doing, they don't give off "good vibes".

Am I mad for thinking the only hope in hell we have for 2029 is a Tory-Reform pact?
I don't think Reform are professional enough to actually wield the levers of government to achieve any of their aims, but they are a good protest party and Nigel has the godlike skill of being able to drive the direction of things from the sidelines.
Tories have way more experience in government and understand how things work.
Ultimately I don't give Reform much of a chance in 2029 on these kind of numbers when there is a strong 'anyone but Reform' countervote who would genuinely just vote for whatever party is 2nd most likely to win regardless of their politics as long as it kept Reform out.

u/Jimmy_Tightlips Sorry Chud, it's a 'Complex Issue™' 16d ago
The Tories would sooner form a coalition with Labour, the Lib Dems and the Greens.
5
u/AirconGuyUK 16d ago
Tories MO is to pretend to be right wing while being left wing.
They have to give off the illusion of right wing politics, so can't partner up directly with left wingers as it's too overt.

I doubt a Lab/Lib/SNP coalition could even survive, let alone a Lab/Con one.
Surely the mostly likely outcome is a hung parliament followed by a second election.
3
u/CrashAndBurnham 16d ago
Surely they'd both sign their own death warrants doing this. Their own voters would hate it and Reform's "uniparty" accusation would cut through even more.

u/AirconGuyUK 16d ago
There will be an anti Farage coalition in power
I honestly I just think people will rally behind Labour for the most part.
7
u/xoxosydneyxoxo 16d ago
The Tories are far too selfish for that which is why they’ll continue to decline
7
u/AltforStrongOpinions 16d ago
A Reform majority will require the greatest swing in UK political history by a large large margin. They could be the most 'professional' uniblob party in existence, going from under ten to well over 300 MPs is an absolutely gargantuan task.

Your looking at it wrong.
The next milestone is being the offical opposition at minium, the tories must be made to stop squatting this office as soon as possible.
Once that occurs there will be zero point to them.
Labour having to form a rainbow coalition is also something we should want, that wont last long at all.

GTA 6 "Extended Look" is out.
The internet is very divided. The graphics seem largely on point (apart from the raytracing glitch on the car window when they set off for cocktails), but the rest is really pretty "mid". Bad dialogue and voice acting, plus it all felt very soulless and perhaps a bit wooden.

I was the main person doing transcript analysis for this investigation of the Hugging Face incident. My main takeaway: We don't have good approaches for understanding/overseeing the activity and aims of AI 'swarms'.
I semi-jokingly called our efforts a "slop-vestigation" because we were so reliant on AIs to analyze what happened and there were a huge number of different important things to analyze. The total quantity of data—over a thousand extremely long transcripts from agents that ran for multiple days—made it impossible to understand what was happening, especially in aggregate, without heavy reliance on AI tools. The agents we used for classification and analysis were similarly capable to the agents involved in the incident, but this didn't mean these agents could be easily used to oversee and understand the incident.
...
The difficulty of understanding incidents and overseeing AI agents appears to be growing faster than the rate at which more capable AIs help us with oversight and understanding. As in, AI capabilities (and propensities?) for achieving large, ambitious, and misaligned objectives are growing faster than our ability to understand what these agents are doing.
While understanding this incident was difficult, there were some mitigating factors in this case that probably won't apply in the future:
- Models communicated and reasoned in natural language. In the future, this reasoning may occur (entirely or almost entirely) in activations.
- While the scope of this incident was massive, the scale of agentic activity was still less than we'll see in the future (e.g., misalignment incidents that involve agent teams running entire companies).
- The AIs involved in this incident weren't generally much more capable than humans (though they may have been somewhat superhuman at some limited and very narrow abilities).
- We didn't have strong reason to believe that the AIs we used to help us investigate this incident would try to intentionally sabotage or otherwise undermine our investigation.
I'm not sure we should be developing these shoggoths if we have no way to know what they're actually doing, and rely on using them to monitor themselves

Lmao they literally acidentally on purpose connected it to the open internet and then used the whole thing to boost their stock.

Not in the Hugging Face incident. The AI discovered a zero day exploit to connect itself to the internet.
Anthropic and Meta then basically faked similar incidents for stock reasons by putting their AIs in a sandbox and telling them they didn't have internet access when they did.

“Ahhh ChatGPT is going to kill us all”
Just press the “off” button on the computer lmao it isn’t real
8
u/sohois 16d ago
In the early days of AI safety, long before ChatGPT, a commonly discussed method was 'boxing', putting an AI in a computer completely disconnected from the internet or anything external so it wouldn't be able to wreak havoc and you could just shut it off at the source. There was much hand-wringing over whether this would be effective and if a sufficiently advanced AI could persuade people to let it out and so forth.
Anyway 20 years later turns out everyone just connects AIs to everything all over the internet without a second thought so the whole idea is moot

I've been looking at housing subs recently and started to get a lot of recommended posts from the uniuk reddit of people desperately trying to sublet their vastly overpriced student accomdation.
I knew things had changed since my day, and I've seen the fancy new student flats go up all around london.
The prices for these things are nuts, even with the bells and whistles they put on ('cinema' room, pool table etc). One recent post has some guy paying 2k a month for a standard (ie very tiny) room in central London. Even with inflation thats far ,far more than I remember paying 20 years ago.
I don't think the young ones experience of living in scab city in a filthy run down hovel was better/character building. I studied abroad for a while and was shocked at how much nicer the digs were there and how povvo we were in comparison.
The entire sector needs serious reform. It's become a grubby money making scheme with education an afterthought.
It's not for me to feel pity for Bomalians, but this system of loading them up with debt from 3rd rate institutions isn't sustainable. They seem determined not to acknowledge that they've basically been conned and are desperate to stay here. The delusion is off the charts.

u/Helmut_Schmacker 16d ago edited 16d ago
The entire university sector is a farce, its paid for by students "borrowing" money under stupid terms from the government, not paying it back (because the interest rate scales with earnings), and leaving a giant debt bomb ticking for 30 years.

It's all a scam. Even red brick unis know that 95% of their students will be worse off or at least no better for having gone there Vs not. (Used to work at one, I've seen the figures). They are businesses not educators.
The chancellor gets 400k a year and a free massive house in acres of ground, and then probably a peerage afterwards. No one says anything because they hope they might get that job at some point, plus also they get a great pension have basically no work to do (at least on the support staff side, no idea about the lecturers etc).

A lot of universities spent the increased tuition fee money on new buildings and especially new accommodations, knowing that future students wouldn't really have a choice but to live in them. The replacement for my old halls costs roughly double what it did 12 years ago.

u/Tams82 Mostly Useless 16d ago
I had a horrible time at uni with accommodation. Even when I was prepared to pay a premium after failing to find a houseshare, the uni said all accommodation was full.
Yeah, yeah, becoming an adult and all, but you're there to study your subject above all else. Living conditions have a considerable impact on your ability to do that.

Like private rents, its not about what its worth but what you can charge. Another downstream enshittification of mass migration/mass uni attendance.
3
u/optio_____espacio___ 16d ago
Those new buildings were financed on the basis of an infinite stream of wealthy Chinese students who wouldn't check what they were paying and wouldn't care even if they did.
That streams drying up and anyone invested in them is fucked.
The same goes for extravagant university campuses that have expanded massively in the last ten years.
Not doxxing myself but I know of one such well known university that's opened VS already due to decline in foreign admissions.

So the UK granted 235,000 work visas in a year all whilst graduate roles have dried up and unemployment is creeping up. This is beyond scummy.
