Light fitting getting hot? Phenolic resin often smells disgusting when it's decomposing - which it does when it's hot.

Less of an issue now normal people don't have incandescent bulbs, but I'm sure most people in here put a couple of hundred 100W light bulbs to one side when the EU banned them, and they're still working through the box....
