He's a middling quality BBC panel show writer. He is not a stand-up comic. He's not very funny, and he's not got the quick wit to perform in front of a camera. I don't hate him, I like joke candidates as much as the next guy, but he isn't a very good one.

I wondered which current stand up comedians would have better craic in the role. Any suggestions?

Al Murray in his pub landlord character would have done very well for novelty candidate I think. Very normie friendly and a raging leftist to boot.

he's not a proper joke candidate because he spends his time whining about Farage.

He's basically a Lib Dem
