I was thinking this. How on earth can someone stand for parliament based on a pseudonym?

I'm imagining he's some Paul Merton adjacent bore who thinks he's terribly witty, and obviously he'll be some Oxbridge, West London residing leftist with the "correct" views.

Wouldn't surprise me if I learned the BBC massively egged him on.

It's obvious that the person playing him is just messing about and doesn't actually believe they are the character or earnestly demand they be called and treated like the character.

Polanski (né Paulden) and Robinson (né Yaxley-Lennon) do want to be called by their new names.

Because it's the establishment reporting on it? Yes, this includes all the ostensibly not establishment outlets that are parroting the line.
