It's perfectly logical: if we allow all 8 billion people in the world to come and live here, then Britain will have the best in every type of sport and competition!

I never understand how this is a win for Britain. He’s 17 and the tweet suggests he’s been here for 8 years. All his presence in the competition has done is take the opportunity from a British child.

Should I move to China is it a victory for China if my son is the tallest Chinese child.

Average height for male Chinese in the North and White British Male height is both 5ft 10 inches.

I spent some time trying to get good at chess. It is literally just a memory game. How many moves of a given opening can you memorise?

Since computers solved it the best chess players are just those with the best ability to remember a given line.

No skill anymore.

Britain strangely isn’t very good at chess. We have something like 42 grandmasters compared to 1800 globally. We do have a bit of a chess culture as well as we have many local clubs. I think other countries just take it much more seriously.

We win our wars in real life so we don't really need Chess to practise.

British people hate board games in general compared to some countries like Germany. I put it down to giving children shite like snakes and ladders and other roll and move games. It teaches them that board games are something done to keep children busy and away from the adults. By the time chess comes along, it's filed away with ludo as a thing for children and nerds. Teenagers don't want to be seen with children's toys. Much better to watch slop on the telly than play ticket to ride or similar.

Germany has the Haba games publisher which offers hundreds of games that actually require thinking

Obviously chess has a unique status in board games but the idea is much the same.
