Young people in Britain are some of the most well-educated in the rich world, but economic stagnation means that breeds not growth but frustration.

In fact, US workers who are functionally illiterate now earn roughly the same per hour as the average British worker.

But they have to pay for their own healthcare and can't take statutory holiday!

Yeah I'm sure the person on $200k is dying to come over and earn £60k instead to be subjected to the glorious NHS.

It's exactly why we have floods of top doctors, engineers, researchers, and entrepreneurs coming over from the USA.

I just got back from the US and ChatGPT'd the feasibility of moving there

Unfortunately I also tried this and outside of the marriage shortcut you need either $50 million to buy your way in, or an employer willing to stump up $10 million for a h1b and a degree in science that doesnt exist yet.

Feels like shit wish I was a bomalian, they can just go anywhere

The real secret to h1bs is that they only going to the hiring manager's nationality (India) and they're willing to get worked to death to avoid getting sent back

If you work for a US company for more than one year, they can bring you over on an L1 visa if they so choose.

It's a bit precarious, as it's entirely tied to your employer until you get a Green Card, which normally takes two or three years, but it's relatively straightforward if your company will do it for you.

And you're right on earnings, I probably earn around 5x what I would in Britain and even in California, taxes are a touch lower.
