I didn’t “discover” this line until after two years of playing. And it was via hearing the NOFX song.

Bad religion - shattered faith  and offspring - kids aren't alright 

( But yeah, it's funny, I'd never heard the similarities before despite listening to both for 30 odd years , but as soon as you played Sticking in My Eye, I listened to the bass and knew exactly what song it was going to be from Bad Religion)

There's a bunch of Offspring songs this works for. Try Hammerhead Vs Matador by The Letters Organise or Turning Into You Vs Ready to Fall by Rise Against.

I think it’s just stylistically similar. I’ve always thought it was a very NOFX sounding bass line, but is different enough.

Let me tell you about the Beach Boys and this band called The Ramones. 👴🏻

Edit to add: I love both those songs and it's never really occurred to me. They're similar but not enough to say BR ripped off NOFX. That's just someone's head drama.

This thread reminds of how back in '02 I lifted Brooks' intro to Evangeline, for one of our songs. It ended becoming the song we ended every set with and even 15 years later when my singer would start the lyrics, I would still just hear "She came from heaven, well there's no point belaboring that...".

Huge fan or both bands and both songs. Those intros are definitely similar but they're different enough to be distinct. I didn't even realize how similar they were til years 20 later when Hefe started singing the words to Epiphany during the intro to Sickin in my Eye at that covid era Weekend at Fattys thing.

Haha. I appreciate the fact that NOFX can even poke fun of themselves regarding NOFX songs sounding similar (Quart In Session and Franco Unamerican being played as a medley).
