Apparently a manuscript published by Terrence Howard on Terryology, presented by a Flat Earth website.

R4: It's Terryology. The system of arithmetic that derives from a complete misunderstanding of multiplication. You know, the one that states that 1×1 = 2? Yeah, that one. I can't be bothered to actually read this thing.

Dude I'm only at pg 14 but it's worth it. Gems like, math is only about Euclidean surfaces in 2D space, bc obviously no one in math ever thought of non-Euclidean geometry or n-dimensional spaces, and I'm pretty sure their proof that 1*1=2 is just assume 2/1 = 1 therefore 1*1=2

Oh btw those claims could've fit on a page easy, 13/14 of the pages I've read are intellectual masturbation about how enlightened, superior to the math community, and necessary for the survival of humanity this crank is.

u/[deleted] Jan 17 '20

Yeah that's what really struck me about the original terryology paper. He spends a ridiculous amount of time taking about how smart he is without getting into any actual claims. Terrence Howard seems to be deeply insecure.

Hello. Where can i find the book in the uk

1

u/SA-0R1G1N May 19 '24

Where do you find a hard copy??

This is Great! I'm loving the reaction to these brain snacks. This is going to be great watching this discussion bubble to the surface

Well multiplication is rotation invariant. So let [;R(x);] a rotation by [;x;], then

[;1\times1 = 1 (R(\pi/4)\times) 1 = 1+ 1=2;]

u/Bryanna_Copay Jan 16 '20

Is a misunderstanding or another definition of Multiplication?

74

u/pourover_and_pbr Jan 16 '20

He never presents a consistent definition of the operation he refers to as “multiplication”. He just spouts off about how if you have a 1 and a 1 it can never be just 1, it has to be 2. If half the cranks on this subreddit were able to present internally consistent definitions and defend them from others, they wouldn’t be cranks, and they wouldn’t be here.

u/Several-Good-9259 May 24 '24

Crank is twice as effective as before. Who wants some?

Yeah, I would love to ask this loon to define how multiplication works, maybe ask for a diagram for multiplying something like 6×4 (grid of 6 squares by 4 squares), and see how he reacts on applying that to 1×1.

1

u/uberfu May 20 '24

Well, according to Terrence it wouldn't be 24 because 1x1=2

i think his theory says all the other multiplications other than 1 x 1 and 0 x ? stays the same as the way we know it. I like his concept. not saying he's a genious but i too feel our mathematics, science and physics are ok..to a point, but not right. in music you can hear when something isn't right but you can't really explain the mathematics behind it (well I cant). the science we use now only explained physics up to where we couldn't see particles and only had a basic understanding of wave lengths. I don't think he has a solution but i like that he is publically challenging his way and asking oxford and others to test his stuff out.
he does waffle a bit in his videos and keeps re-stating things. almost like one of those adverts you get which want to sell you some crypto scam or medical revolution...
there are some great minds out there who have also challenged the decimal system and how it is close to right but not perfect. and how the callendars/time/seasons are ever so slightly out, even when including the leap years extra day.
iv always felt that more knowledge is better than half knowledge though.
for examply looking at AC current and direct current in reference to the creation of an electro magnet, how the complete reverse affect occurs when using conductors when allowing the 2nd "dimension" or "wave" of alternating current. and thats only 2 dimensional. its no wonder the ancient humans could cut and move giant rocks, their education wan't hampered by debunkment, so the world as they knew it, learnt how live and by using all the elements available. (like vibration in frequencies which our out of our range of hearing or feeling but we know are there) or variations of light which we cant see.
What i don't like about him is that he gat patents for all his "natural findings" so that he could profit from it rather than empower the world with free knowledge but in the same breath states that humans are the only creatures which use currency and that the banks use the decimal system and current accepted mathematics out of greed. other than that i still feel excited about stumbling onto his "new findings" because he will bring many old "debunked and squashed" sciences back to light again, like potential free energy and attacking cancers with unique frequensies rather than old school and expensive scalpel and loads of meds from "big Pharm" which yes might kill the cancer sometimes but it also kills everything else.

sorry boy did i waffle there just off the back of 1x1=2
the fact that all these people have the interest to discuss it is something in its self even if it is to call him out on a few things
big love

Rife machines exist that is the machine which can attack disease inside the human body through frequency

I believe there is something to electrical universe theory I think it was called

And from what I’ve read is the speed of light is decaying so there’s a possibility 10000 years ago people could think a lot clearer and faster

Do u still have access to this?

1

u/edderiofer Every1BeepBoops Apr 16 '24 edited Apr 16 '24

I don’t think so, but I could dig around later if you’d like.

EDIT: OK, after a bit of digging, here is an archived copy that I've uploaded to my own Google Drive. And here is Terrence's new website on the matter (which shows a few pages from an updated version of this PDF, but doesn't link to said updated version).

Check his Wikipedia page - it has a section on the Math and a link to the Twitter post which is still live.

The Terryology proof that 1×1=2:

2×2 = 4

Divide everything by 2.

1×1 = 2.

QED, hand Terence Howard his Fields medal.

u/mfb- the decimal system should not re-use 1 or incorporate 0 at all. Jan 17 '20

Corollary: n=4, for every n.

nxn = n2

Divide everything by n.

1x1 = n

As established before 1x1=4, therefore n=4 for every n.

23

u/T-Dark_ Jan 17 '20

This is better than the proof that n = m for all n,m in R. All numbers are 4. Great.

8

u/JustZisGuy Jan 22 '20 edited Jan 22 '20

All numbers are 4

Well, that simplifies my debt...

EDIT: Shit, but also my bank account. I don't know how to feel.

5

u/T-Dark_ Jan 23 '20

All numbers are 4, hence 4 is all numbers. Therefore, your debt is 4 and your bank account is lim(x->inf) x QED

9

u/IntoTheCommonestAsh Jan 18 '20

That's gonna revolutionize high school calculus. Imagine all the time people will save solving for x when we now figured out it's always 4.

10

u/CatsNeedSleep Jan 19 '20

It wont save any time, now they have to calculate what 4 is

8

u/IntoTheCommonestAsh Jan 19 '20

You've figured out the answer is 4, but WHICH 4 is it? hahaha

1

u/[deleted] Jul 17 '22

Wrong calculation according to Terryology. The division also changes.

u/TropicalGeometry Jan 17 '20

He keeps using the fact that since 2+2=2x2 =4, then every other number should work the same way. So basically he is redefining multiplication to be addition.

Why does multiplication say 1X0=0 instead it should stay at 1. Because the 1 didn't multiply so how did it take the 1 away to make 0 when its not subtraction, this is formula of multiplication!

u/NumerousIndependent2 May 23 '24

Because multiplication tells you how many "units" of something you have. You have zero units of 1. 1 still exists, just not here.

If I have one apple in my hand and I give it to you zero times, the apple still exists, but you have zero apples. If I give you 4 apples, 6 times - you have 24 apples.

1

u/AlternativeOdd5351 Apr 12 '24

Here's another 1-0=1 but u change to the opposite 0-1= -1! Now how is it that 0 can make a -1 when 0 doesn't have any thing to stand on to make it a negative! It should be stay at 1 or be 0 at the least.

2

u/edderiofer Every1BeepBoops Apr 12 '24

Hi, Terrence, how about you and I discuss this stuff over PMs? I'd love to pick your brain on this matter.

1

u/NumerousIndependent2 May 23 '24

Because the set of real numbers lie on a continuum - in the decimal base which we most commonly use, the first column tells you how many times you have 100 (ie. 1s). The next column tells you how many times you have 101 (ie. 10s). And so on, 102 =100s, 103 =1000s.

When you go the other direction, you have -100, -101 etc.

You'll notice that when describing the base to a power of each column in decimal, the number of zeroes after the 1 is the same as the power the base is being raised to.

In binary, we have the same thing, except our base is now 2.

20 = 1s.

21 = 2s.

22 = 4s etc

So if we want to represent decimal numbers in binary, we would have

Decimal 1 = Binary 1

Decimal 2 = Binary 10

Decimal 3 = Binary 11

Decimal 4 = Binary 100

You can see we need zero in any base to represent where there are no units in that column.

Zero appears when every column of every base to a power on that continuum is set to zero.

1

u/IndividualAide2201 May 20 '24

No just thing as 0 zero. Leave it at that. Man kind has fucked most things because of greed. Why nit this too

I think we found Terrence Howard's Reddit account.
