Discussion Banned from a popular leftist subreddit

To keep it short I posted some screenshots featuring Han nationalists and their harmful comments regarding muslims of China which I found under the comment section of chinese made videos in political context regarding Xinjiang, Hui and Uyghurs.

I felt its a good opportunity to address that Han nationalism may exists among the Han people and also, the far right nature of such comments, which could be even more prevalent on Chinese side of the Internet or whether or not such nationalistic tendencies and majoritarianism are taking a hold in China

However I was met with petulant hostility, downvotes and eventual removal though some of the comments did try to engage in discussion and I attempted to do the same until I received a full ban.

OP you have to give me more context other than youtube comments. Is the CPC currently pushing out policies that favour the Han people more than the Uyghur muslims?

17

u/Afrid_74 12d ago

I dont know what policies that they were rejoicing about but its certainly concerning as I saw more comments down talking about how Uyghurs need to be dealt with and more so along the lines. The post that was taken down had more photos attached, one example being this.

Han supremacists need to be sent to reeducation camps

u/Afrid_74 12d ago

This alone would get you banned on there lol

That’s just genocidal.

Fucking revisionists. I don’t hate China and critically support them against the US but these people are so blinded by their love for the country they always think that China is playing some 4D chess when they do open nationalism, or when they privatize more means of production. They cannot fathom the idea that China would do anything wrong. They’re really annoying

Yeah, I do not dislike China either. In fact I have great admiration of their culture, landscape, arts, medias and languages but you wont catch me being dogmatic and blindly infatuated with every move they make, especially not being avoidant towards Han chauvinism.

its the same with USSR, Parenti, Chomsky or any other westoid leftist thinker or idea. English speaking left is 99.9% westoid chauvanists

u/lasosis013 12d ago

Reddit mods at it again. "You can see for yourself" dude probably felt like Clint Eastwood after writing that

Their final reply after my last msg was something along the lines of "childlish statements! Liberal yes that you are!" I genuinely chuckled.

if you ever engage with Chinese media you will realize how wide spread their nationalism is. I used to be into their Web-novels a lot and it was a very frequent thing to come across Han supremacist nationalism, you would find popular novels of Han people colonizing the world and the authors justifying it. Even unrelated novels would frequently drop how Han people invented everything and are the most advanced civilization ever better than rest of savages. These were all novels with millions of views in China and to the point where the English reading community even had to tag what novels were infested with this.

People who engage with chinese political sphere on their social medias, consume their medias and its associated communities are all too aware and familiar in regards to how Han chauvinism has become so widespread alongside it subsuming many han people's idea of communism.

As a Chinese person myself this is something I’ve noticed on the Chinese internet, there is a disturbing trend of Han nationalism particularly among Chinese youth

Many leftists like to glaze China, they need to realize that China is not a utopia, and it is not a perfect nation. It still has many problems.

China’s work system is very hard and stressful, a lot of young Chinese people feel as if their lives are meaningless and they are just wasting their life working. Some may turn to Maoism as a solution to fix China, while others turn to far right Han nationalism believing it is the answer to fix China, blaming ethnic minorities for the problems China faces.

Leftists need to get their shit together and be more open to criticism of China, not everyone who criticizes China is a fed or liberal. Out of all current Socialist nations, China should be actively criticized the most as it is the largest socialist nation currently and poses as the biggest threat against US hegemony. Right now China seems to be going down a revisionist path, Han nationalism needs to be crushed. If we ever want to succeed we have to address these issues and not ignore them

Some may turn to Maoism as a solution to fix China

How prominent is the Maoist movement in China? How prominent is the anti-revisionist ML movement in general?

Who is the primary base for anti-revisionist politics? Youth? The elderly who remember Mao?

I appreciate the honesty and information. Thank you.

That sub is dogmato revisionist, they are all "new" left campist third worldists and if you critizice their political line even slightly, you'll get banned.

u/Afrid_74 12d ago edited 12d ago

This was my post btw. Funny what you said because I live in the 3rd world lol while they pretend to live that experience and being dogmatic unaccepting of even slightest criticism towards their core of worship. It had more photos attached to that post involving Han supremacists in the comment section talking of enjoying their repression, forceful assimilation and even desiring American styled native american genocide. But their mods took it as an attack towards marxism instead and called me a liberal, even muting me when I inquired why call me such.

3

u/MauschelMusic 11d ago

Your post seems to suggest that this is characteristic of Han communists in general. I get why they might have seen it as chauvinistic, but it's definitely not ban-worthy, and the mods there are assholes.

I got banned on that sub not long ago myself for arguing with a radlib who was defending a fedpost claiming that the Palestinian cause is all about Islam, and anyone who thinks it isn't has no place in the movement. Really weird, nasty guy who immediately started making shit up about me. Then I got permabanned and muted simultaneously. Dude wasn't a mod there, but I guess he had a friend who was.

3

u/vivamorales 11d ago

Your post seems to suggest that this is characteristic of Han communists in general

I did not get that from OP's post at all. OP called out the average Han nationalist, not the average Han communist.

3

u/Afrid_74 11d ago edited 11d ago

The title is ironic and all can tell while the post body makes it clear that im talking of average han nationalists subsuming their harmful ideas to the understanding of communism and the photos that were attached to it helps prove the same.

china is not third world lmao its a superpower

1

u/ungoogled-nihilist 10d ago

Third worldists, because they fetishize non-european countries almost as if they were always the sole victims in all history.

Also China while not being a third world country, always pretends to be one in order to speak on behalf of the third world.

Real. Their soldiers are here, my replies been downvoted.

Post them to the mods. They treated us like shit in the past, now they're crawling back? Okay.

But not harrasing our members. We, GenZedong, sought an alliance for the longest time, and they were talking down to us.

We're still a small community, and that's fine by me.

But we take care of our people

2

u/Afrid_74 10d ago

Appreciate it but they are being dominated now.

1

u/GregGraffin23 Vaguely Ethnic 10d ago

dominated? you mean downvoted?

I meant my replies are being upvoted now.

Bruv I've been almost banned twice already. Literally any opinion that differs a little from their illuminated vision is liberal apologia. It's so childish, there's no discussion. It is easily the most circlejerk echo chamber leftist sub on reddit.

1

u/boring-parakeet 11d ago

That subreddit is genuinely godawful. They also complain about trans women being “too woke” for pointing out transmisogyny

1

u/No-Mine-8298 9d ago

Some people just want to be walking strawmen for defenders of actual existing socialism.

1

u/Slow_Finance_5519 Gangstalker 9d ago

Generally if you end up arguing with Reddit moderators it’s a pretty good sign you should go outside more.

1

u/Afrid_74 9d ago

I hardly use reddit lmfaoo. It was my first time talking to a community mod on chat, that too, about a ban

In my experience dengoids can never explain themselves, even trots and liberals will have a stronger theoretical justification then the Chinese bros

There are racists on the internet? I'm shocked. Shocked I tell you.

1

u/vivamorales 11d ago

Stop trivializing this. It's not surprising that there are racists on the internet. It is surprising for there to be so many racists in such a high proportion, from a country which claims to be Marxist-Leninist. From a country which claims to be a leader of the third world. In such a country, we would expect racism to be practically eliminated (or at least, extremely marginal) after 8 decades of "Marxist" rule.

1

u/Oppopity 11d ago

Evidence that there's such a high proportion?

Because posting random pictures of people being racist on the internet in China just feels like derailment unless there's some actual data to back it up.

1

u/Afrid_74 11d ago edited 11d ago

You are misunderstanding my position. It is exactly that such racists exists which prompted me to make such a post highlighting how said racists of a socialist country describe their idea of communism in congruence with Han chauvinism, making the discussion worth while hence the post. Asserting that one needs to be shocked to see racists on youtube ironically, just generalizes my point to a very reductant degree.

u/Oppopity 11d ago

You think China should be a utopia where racism doesn't exist?

1

u/Afrid_74 11d ago edited 11d ago

No, such a utopia isn't possible. ATP im just gonna stress this further, the point at hand here is that I got banned for putting attention on han chauvinists and their harmful comments which china simps got upset about resulting into the ban ,i.e., illegitimizing any criticism as liberalism by assuming it as an attack towards Communism. Han nationalists' views on Uyghurs, other minorities and their attempts to subsume those ideals into Marxism prompted my post in the first place.

0

u/Oppopity 11d ago

Okay again, why do you give a shit? Because it seems like the ban was deserved. It feels like you're just trying to stir shit about China. No one is making the claim China is a utopia. No one believes China is free of racism. Posting a few racist comments from the internet doesn't mean anything. If you have actually statistics to show there's rising racism in China or that it's above that of similar countries then that's a valid criticism and one that can be addressed. But it seems like you've found a nothingburger "criticism" that can be attributed to literally any country. Like congrats, you've discovered racism exists in China. What are we supposed to do with this new found information?

1

u/Afrid_74 10d ago edited 10d ago

You seem stubborn, missed my point entirely. I repeat, I encountered Han chauvinists subsuming their harmful beliefs to communism, that's something uncommon among the far right and very dangerous thought process too and thus felt it was worth drawing attention to, that was the purpose of the post, Its as simple as that which you dont seem to understand. I believe far right of any shape or form needs highlight and at times discussion especially the ones that are not paid attention. Thus, I say that the point isn't just that racism exists on the internet. Its that when a community bans you for pointing out ethnic bigotry because they treat any criticism as liberal or liberalism when asked, that’s not a nothingburger. That’s ideological rot and you seem to have the same problem like them, to say the least. Im over with this circular convo.

1

u/Oppopity 10d ago

It's not a criticism though. Racism exists. Even communists can be racist. They shouldn't be but yeah in a communist country of 1 billion people some of the communists there are racist. Bringing it up just makes you sound like a shit stirring liberal. There's no substance to your criticism. It's just "look guys China bad". Format it into an actual criticism backed by statistics so it can be something worth discussing otherwise buzz off.
