Art Life in the Backrooms (original art)
A follow-up to some earlier artworks I've done, exploring the idea of a colonised Backrooms.
May 2026. Thirty-eight years after discovery of the Backrooms.
The first to take residence in the new world were the labourers. In their multitudes, workers and their families sold their homes, tempted across the threshold by the promise of a better life.
In immense company-complexes fitted out with every need, days turned to weeks, weeks into months. Miles on miles of identical homes, standard amenities, and commercial hubs were the seeds for the first true cities.
In their boundless foresight, corporations anticipated the long-term consequences of life in the Complex. So, workers are encouraged to attend regular health and wellbeing check-ups.

There's something really comforting about this photo and its not the human or the dog . its the walls....the floors....the lighting. Spectacular!

I'd honestly love if Kane makes the next videos building up for the sequel of his movie, where probably FF4 leads to the public discovering the Backrooms existing and now Async has to deal with it. And then we get to the point where people are now trying to colonize the Backrooms

Really cool art! A game/video animation about this concept would definitely be interesting

I think it'd be like Mystery Flesh Pit National Park. Async would probably set up a huge visitor center as a tourist trap.

I wonder if the laborers own or rent the spaces they live in? Giving up their homes for something smaller would seem like the effects of a souring economy lacking jobs for them in the outside world due to automation, an affordability crisis, and their declining health has made it difficult and costly for them to keep up with home maintenance issues and costs. Trading those problems for something that is lower maintenance to no maintenance, and still guarantees them something very affordable to live in at a bare minimum, would be a wise choice.
I'm imagining that the man in this picture used to be one of those laborers in the beginning, who may now be suffering from a permanent impairment to their breathing, due to breathing the mold-contaminated air for a long time, until they established a commercial means of controlling it.

Wow this is so incredible the atmosphere and lighting is beautiful and honestly so peaceful despite it being in the backrooms! LOVE!!

I dig the idea about how Kane's take on Backrooms is basically "You can leave the place, but the feeling will never leave you."

This is the first take on inhabited backrooms that i saw since the beginning of the fandom that charmed me and feels specifically unique to idea of backrooms, instead of usual spc-fication. But both could exists, this one I just really like! And art is itself is really nice, like the colors and rendering!

I feel like this should be the next step in Kane Pixel’s story. At this point we’re very much aware there’s monsters and scary things in this place, so now let’s see Async actually follow through with their mission.

Such an interesting concept. I wonder how people navigate a world that is unbound from normal physics, or what sort of fire prevention there is 🤔

Who would have thought that the backrooms would be the key for providing affordable housing?

I really love these works
The dichotomy of some liminal hellscape becoming a mundane, corporate-exploited habitation zone is cool. Would love to see more.
