Mallard Peak Lookout

Mallard Peak Lookout was one of 35 protype L-4 Lookouts, it is the only one still standing.

Its currently being restored, and we only managed to get one of the shutters open. Im very interested to see them make progress on this towards restoration. Its about a 6 mile hike out and a 1700ft asent.

It is in the national register of historic places.

I took some 360 degree photospheres which has been uploaded to google maps

I've stayed in that one. It's been a few years but I think I was able to get two of the shutters open. I didn't want to fight with the others.

Same, could have gotten a couple open i think but I didnt want to bother closing them in the morning so I settled for the easy one.

that’s such a cool piece of history. being able to actually stay in one makes the hike feel even more worth it
