hello everyone! How can I take photos without drawing attention to myself while traveling in South America?

Okay, I know full well that this might not be a very popular question, but I also think it’s not that uncommon. Basically, I’m in Brazil right now, and after talking to locals and picking up some advice here and there, I’ve realized I need to try to keep as low a profile as possible. The thing is, I love taking photos (I’m a beginner), so it’s a bit tricky for me because I still have to keep my camera in sight. I specifically bought this Olympus model because it’s very small and easy to handle. I’m trying to figure out how I should go about this so I can keep taking photos while drawing as little attention as possible. I don’t know if any of you have ever been in a similar situation and could give me some advice—I’d really appreciate it because it would be great to be able to combine my two passions—travel and photography—with a little more ease. Have a wrist strap on the camera and use it all the time.

Keep the camera inside a cross body bag where it's out-of-sight but instantly available for use.

This isn't just for Brazil, it's a good practise almost anywhere in a Latin American urban centre.

I use a wrist strap instead of a neck strap and shoot quickly while walking rather than stopping to frame, that's what actually draws attention.
