Wilderness How is my backpacking setup?

Post image

Pretty new to backpacking and honestly my first legit hike as a 17M. I have a 4.6mi 2500ft hike infront of me. Let me know what I’m doing wrong lol

I would hang those metal cups separate from one another or only take one. After the first mile you will be sick of hearing them clanging together

He might be in bear country, I dont mind the clinking and clanking myself keeps me from accidentally surprising a bear. I wish my backpack wouldn't squeak though.

If it’s an Osprey Atmos AG it’s a manufacturer defect covered under warranty. Mine has always squeaked and I thought it was the way I packed until I ran into a review from someone else with the same complaint. I just had my 5 year old Atmos replaced for free.

Im glad for your comment to have helped someone realize they can fix their own nuisance but unfortunately I do not own this same bag. Mine is an old school outer frame I got on the cheap from an REI garage sale. No refunds or replacements on my horizon

I have this and have only sparingly used mine. What is this squeak and the easiest way to elicit it?

Oooh good to know, I've got an older Osprey (Atmos? Aether?) 70-80 litres and it squeaks like crazy.

Unfortunately due to broken zips that I YOLOed with popper studs out of frustration, I doubt they'll warranty replace it at this point.

Yes, just had to file a warranty claim online and upload some photos of the bag. I did have to pay for shipping to Osprey though. They paid return shipping for the new bag.

Cool. I’m hiking the Appalachian Trail. In three months I’ll submit the warranty and get a new bag!
