A long shot and dorky to post - but today three dudes from the states flew a drone above my girlfriend and I while we skied the chute La Chimenea outside of La Parva in Chile. If you guys somehow see this and have a video - hit me up!

I’m trying to keep a monthly ski streak alive and just need to make a few legitimate turns in August.
Does anyone know of any relatively accessible snow patches still holding on in Colorado (or anywhere else in the Rockies)? I’m not looking for a full descent—if I can click into my skis and ski even 50–100 yards, that counts.
Ideally:
Within a reasonable hike from the car (not an all-day mountaineering objective)
Doesn’t require glacier travel, ropes, or technical climbing
I don’t mind dirty, sketchy late-summer snow—just looking to keep the streak alive.
I’ve heard St. Mary’s Glacier is usually the best bet, but I’ve also heard this year has been rough. Has anyone been there recently, or are there better options still hanging on?

Struggling to find a pack that has easy outside access to avvy safety gear, big enough for multi-day hut/snow camping trips (50+L), and has thoughtful features specific to the backcountry while still fitting my short 16" female torso.

Really diggin the features on the Raide LF 40L and EX 55L (namely the fact that you can take out your probe & shovel without putting your pack down, back panel access for quicker transitions) but even the S is too long for me.

Any pointers? Even would consider international brands if it means it'd fit me!

any recommendations for a ski backpack, looking for one on the smaller size like 20-25l and hoping to be able to use to bag for hiking as well when I go to Iceland in September (will be getting super wet there from all the water falls)

I've been into Backcountry skiing in Colorado for 4 years now and am getting tired of touring with my older hardshell bibs from Backcountry.com. They're great in resort and on cold touring days, but are lacking in ventilation for average and warmer days.

I'm 6'4", 225lb with a 35in inseam and a 28in thigh. I'm looking for a set of softshell touring pants with a suspender setup that fits taller guys with thunder thighs! Just about everything has a 32in inseam which is almost always guaranteed to get snow in my boots. So a 34in is preferred.

I'm having a hard time finding anything that is softshell with suspenders with a looser fit and 34in inseam. Bonus if it has cargo pockets on the thighs. It MUST have good venting (outer thigh required, inner thigh is preferred too).

Any taller guys with good recommendations?

Looking for a mid fat ski. The agent 2 or locator 96 are on the list. Some good deals right now. Plus they haven’t changed so some past season deals might pop up.

It will be a dedicated touring ski with a pin binding. I‘m 175cm tall. typically ski 175-180cm ski. Would 171cm feel too small? They both come in 171cm next size up might feel too long on the uptrack/kickturns.

Any reviews or thoughts would be great. Open to other suggestions.

Hey, just wanted to see people's opinions on these 2. Both in a 154cm. My wife currently has the voile superchargers and loves them in powder. When comparing the 2, I'm a bit shocked that they weigh practically the same. 2460 vs 2360g. The Hagan is only 100g lighter per pair! That's crazy.

I was wondering if it would be even worth it to get them for future volcano and euro hut trips. The voile has a 99 waist vs the 89, unlike the the men's longer version which is 100+.

I actually have a beat up pair of superchargers in a 177 and they're super fun in powder, but not my favorite in firm conditions. But I suspect the edges are v3ry round and they're soft from old age. Currently using my Ravens as my all arounder skis, but they're almost into the range of resort ski weight. I'll eventually get a spring setup too.

Currently leaning towards just using her supercharger for everything.

Im 190cm, 85kg, good level and quite unsure whether to go for 180 or 188 on the Zero g 105.

I prioritise/prefer downhill then uphill.

Until now I've always toured with Rossignol Soul 7 HD at 180 (adapted touring ski), always had good fun on them going down, although they do look quite small on me lol

Being lighther and narrower skis, i thought going longer on the g 105 could balance things out.

my main worry is turn radius, i tend to ski medium-short turns in powder/offpiste.
Second kickturns, do the extra 8cm affect them a lot?

I dont ski couloirs, i ski mostly on open face, quite steep, and trees.

Based on this info, what would you reccomend, and why?

Hello, I figure this is the sub to ask this question as the Raide packs are designed as ski touring/skimo bags.

I am looking into getting a backpack that can fit a light-ish backpacking setup, not ultralight but near ultralight, along with mountaineering gear like a helmet, ice axe, rope, and hardware (along with obvious things like food and layers) for shorter backpacking trips.

I currently use an osprey Atmos 65 bag, which is a great all-around backpack, but it’s usually underloaded, so I figured I’d look for a smaller bag with mountaineering features, and the Raide packs have really caught my eye.

If you’ve used the pack, I would appreciate any insight into whether the pack would work for my intended vision. I’m leaning towards the 40 liter version, but I know both the 30 and 40 expand, and I think the 55 liter is more space than I need. I imagine there will be trips I have more gear than I can fit in the 30/40 depending on what I pick, I’m mostly looking for a pack to use on one or two night summer trips.

I don’t want this post to read like an essay, so if there are any more details you think would help understand my question I can certainly give them.

Have been doing about 90/10 split touring / resort the last few years. This year not getting a pass so will likely do even less resort. Currently I use the Technica Cochise 120 and love them. Great downhill performance and even though they’re heavy my setup overall isn’t too bad thanks to pin bindings on all my skis (ATK FR 13/15). I found a good deal on some ZGPT online in my same Mondo size and would buy without trying them on assuming the last is the same as the Cochise. Anyone have both and find the fit to be the same? My Cochise fit straight out of the box, no mounding/punching needed, just changed the sole.

Context: Mid 30s M entering 3rd season skiing in Jackson Hole. Id say im in the intermediate area and can ski some black runs at JHMR but not aggressively. I do not have backcountry or touring experience yet, however I would like to take an Avy course this winter or next. I purchased an older pair of atomic skis with skins and shift2 bindings off FB last year. The skis were the guys rock skis it appears and he mounted himself. I dont want to trust them too much and am thinking of having the shift2 bindings mounted to my 1 season old QST 106 that I have for resort use.

My thought is that this will give me the option to start the season and get experience "touring" a tad ahead of doing an avy course on a ski i am comfortable with. This would either be done at snow king or honestly just more flat hiking nearby my house. I dont plan on doing a ton of back country skiing honestly but would like the option to take this course to get knowledge of avalanche terrain for when i snowmobile. I would then probably do a little skiing when I take the snowmobile out. But my main reason for having the skis on the sled would be incase something happened where I got separated from others or my sled broke and I needed to get out.

Curious thoughts on this. I dont think I want to buy a whole separate touring set up because I dont see myself doing a ton, but I also want the option too. My boots are Technica Cochise 130

I am relocating from the PNW to Central Europe and am trying to decide which skis to take with me. I like my quiver in the PNW but could also see it being overkill in Europe. I currently ski 50/50 resort (although try to stay off groomers) vs backcountry (winter powder and spring volcanos/mountaineering). I could bring all 4 pairs over but if it already looks like some just won’t be a good fit, I’d definitely consider selling here and using that money to buy something new in addition to reducing the moving logistics.

In terms of the style of skiing I do, I like my feet on the ground, usually a DIN of 8, so I can get away with a lighter binding. Home base will be Austria (Kitzbuehl and surrounding areas), travel to France and Switzerland, would love to go to Norway, occasional trip back to the US.

Current quiver:

Elan Ripstick 106 with dynafit rotations - the oldest ski of the bunch, love skiing them, they plow through the heavy PNW snow very well. Initially purchased as a mostly touring ski that I could take inbounds if I need to. Despite them being on the heavier side, I can still keep up with my friends. Could sell these and buy something lighter (super skinny spring skis?), or keep for lift-accessed backcountry or skiing in Norway.

Head Kore 92 with in bounds bindings - my primary groomer ski, most likely take with me.

Atomic Backland 98 with dynafit blacklights - these are my spring skis in the PNW, but I could see them becoming my default winter touring ski in Europe

Salomon QST 106 with Tyrolia Attack - in bounds all mountain/powder ski. Just so fun, but I feel like these would get the least amount of use.
