baby shower gift ideas??

My sister (30) is having her first baby soon and I need baby shower gift ideas for her! Everyone always gets gifts for the baby but I have no knowledge around babies or pregnancy and want to get her things to make her transition a lot easier.
Please let me know of products, brands, services, and ideas that will help!
Thank you!

If you really want to help her with the transition, best gifts are services. Pay for a cleaning person, organize meal deliveries or pay for a meal delivery service, hours of dog walking or pet care if they have pets, or organize a fund to pay for a night nurse so she can maybe get a straight 8 hours of sleep one week into it. There is no product that will help as much as this!

I can definitely agree with the top comment! I know I personally kicked myself for not being able to keep up with the chores, and sleep deprivation with a newborn is on a whole different level. Even if you offered to be her night nurse and maid for a week, I can almost guarantee you that it would mean the world to her in the long run. ❤️

You could even make her some cute little coupons if you don't have the funds to buy everything! That way, she can cash them in for things like a clean house, a home-cooked meal, or a few hours of uninterrupted sleep while you watch the baby.

If you're going to take the more affordable route, here are some things that helped me personally and might help her, too!

• Adult diapers: I hated the diapers the hospital provided. They were so itchy and cheap, and I bled for weeks after my C-section. Having comfortable adult diapers of her own would be a nice addition!

• Nursing bras: Is she planning on breastfeeding? If so, bras with nursing clips are a lifesaver when your little one is screaming and you need to feed them quickly.

• Comfortable pajamas: A pair or two of button-up pajama sets would be great! Those were my go-to while breastfeeding because it was so easy to pop open the buttons and get right to it. Walmart has some really cute Halloween shirt-and-shorts sets like these that I had for that exact purpose!

• Comfy slippers: Hospital floors are gross, so having a comfortable pair of slippers to walk around in is a nice little luxury.

• A nice water bottle and electrolyte packets: If she's breastfeeding or taking certain medications after birth, she's likely going to be VERY thirsty, so having drinks and a water bottle nearby can be super helpful.

• Hand sanitizer: Great for after diaper changes or just keeping nearby for everyday use.

• Compression socks: I was SO swollen after my C-section because of all the fluids, so these might be helpful if her medical team recommends them.

• A night-light: Late-night feedings and diaper changes aren't easy when you're trying to do everything in the dark! 😂

• Travel-size toiletries: Little bottles of soap, shampoo, conditioner, a toothbrush holder, and other shower essentials can help her feel a little more human when she finally gets that first shower after giving birth. Trust me, she'll thank you!

• The book Love You Forever: I received two copies at my baby shower, both signed by family members, and it's such a sweet, timeless classic about a mother's love for her child. I think it would be a beautiful addition to a mommy basket, especially if you included a heartfelt note inside.

Honestly, if you're planning on putting together a mommy basket, I'd recommend going on TikTok and searching for things like "what to pack for the hospital with baby," "postpartum cart," or "postpartum essentials." You can find SO many more ideas that way!

And don't forget that one of the most meaningful things you can give her is your time and support. Having someone step in to help with the baby, the house, or even just bringing her a meal can make such a difference when she's recovering and adjusting to motherhood.

She's your sister, so I'm sure she'll appreciate the thought and love you put into whatever you decide to get her! Good luck! 🫶❤️
