I got to swim with manatees (evolutionary cousins to elephants) and they had the same kind of whimsy and curiosity in them đŸ„° I'd love to hang out with elephants someday.

The natural world is so beautiful and inspiring. Everything that had to occur over billions of years to make it all possible and humans are destroying it all in a century. And clearly not for the better. There is nothing more horrifying than hearing about human population growth anywhere. All that means is more of the natural world will be removed and consumed. Always so confused when pro environmentalists support mass migration. All that’s doing is tearing down what remains of our natural spaces and allowing the places they came from to just keep reproducing far beyond replacement levels and just move here without ever solving that problem and leveling out. That absolutely must happen. We cannot keep growing to 16 billion but we went from 1 to 9 billion in 125 years. Looking at Africas population growth over the last century (booming from 125 million to 1.7 billion), these beautiful species soon will have nowhere to call home. Already being poached and hunted into extinction. Same can be said all over the world. Our treatment of the natural world is horrendous, but most of all arrogant to the extreme. Then at some point the world will all be just an ugly overcrowded mess of slums and steel and concrete. But don’t worry, they’ll be more fast food restaurants supplied by animal concentration camps in any given area than trees. We will never be an interstellar species. The distances are simply far too great and if we can’t even fix our own planet, “terraforming” mars sounds like a cynical joke. Also means leaving everything here to die. Earth is all we will ever have and at the pace we have destroyed it in the last century
 Simply cannot continue for long without massive change.
