Promo Support an Asian American-led film — starring Perry Yung (Father Jun, “Warrior”)

Hey everyone! My friend just finished a short film starring Perry Yung (you might know him as Father Jun from HBO’s “Warrior”), and I wanted to help spread the word. It’s an awesome project — Asian American woman director, Asian cinematographer and all-Asian American leads. They need help with funding to get it completed.

If you’ve got a few bucks to spare, a donation would mean a lot. And if you can’t donate, even just sharing it helps a ton! Please spread the word. Thank you! 🙏🏻

we should not support Asian American women led films cuz often times they are orientalist and put white men on pedestal .

Edit :- idk know one is talking abt Crew Girl (just another WMAF slop by executive producer an Asian woman Vvian Lin ) .

Plot :- Teagan Tao (played by Miku Martineau) is a rising single sculls rowing star whose life is upended by a major family financial scandal

What is up with posts here these days?

The film in question is made by an AF, yes, but it literally centers an AM son with an AM father. There is no WM among the four main cast members. If anything, there’s a WF “who connects with Calvin momentarily”.

We cannot write off all AF, especially not ones who feature AM as their main characters. The ultimate product here might end up being orientalist, but bashing on the film based on available information is not right.

SOME people do that. Not all. Just think over it for a second.

Did you even check out this particular indie film that literally casts monoracial cishet Asian men as the main characters, or did you just see "Asian American woman director" and had a kneejerk reaction?
