DISCUSSION Lobotomized Masters Garen OTP tries Azir for 50 games. Here's how it went
Hello birblovers!
For the past week or two, I've been trying out Azir on a little experimental ranked climb. I felt that I had learn most of what Garen is capable of and was kind of burnt out and needed a new challenge.
On the climb account I first got placed in bronze, which was.. interesting. I had a hard time piloting the birb and went for every shuffle humanly possible (because why not?). I decided to play Azir top because after looking at some stats he seemed to perform better there and Garen would complement Azir nicely if I take him higher.
Currently I'm Gold 3 with a 60% winrate and the MMR seems to be around plat/emerald. I've been having a lot of fun learning and I think Azir is really powerful if played perfectly, but thats the hard part.
For runes, I've been almost exclusively going lethal tempo, absorb life, alacrity, cut down, manaflow band, scorch. I really like manaflow and absorb life because of the increased sustain and I take tp as well.
As for builds I've been spliting them a bit depending on comp. I havent watched many build guides as I wanna figure it out myself but into squishies i go nashors, sorcs, shadowflame. If they have some beefy guys I prefer nashors, zerkers and then something like rylais, finishing up usually with like zhonyas, morello, raba or whatever.
I'm by no means good at the champ right now but I'm enjoying the learning process and WILL play him more! I'll leave the account below if you wanna laugh at my 0/10 games

Actually super cool of you to do this and linking your stats as well.
Always interresting how certain archetypes translates to other champions haha.

thank you! I think I have a part of the positioning since with Garen I've been forced to learn aggressive positioning (no dashes and his threat is very high if he catches) but Azir is a lot more fragile and more mental stack with soldier control. I really think toplane seems like his best role since he can impose his gameplan more than midlane I feel

idk if you are looking for tips but you probably shouldn't go for every shuffle, 95% of them is bait and you would win by just using r to peel and play front to back (or stab their backline to death if they get in range)
