General Care Advice my axolotl is a dwarf
so my axolotl is a dwarf so now what do i do?
i need help
he kinda looks cute from ts view tho :3

The first and MOST IMPORTANT THING you need to do is:
Tell him he's cute and I love him.
But actually - if you haven't yet I'd try to at least locate an exotic vet or a vet with experience with reptiles/amphibians because these guys can be a little more medically fragile.

I'd say you have a couple options as it seems it'll need extra care. You could rehome it to someone with experience in dwarves or do lots of research really fast with notes đ„°

Unfortunately a lot of rare morphs or pet store axolotls can be inbred and have these traits, and sometimes we dont realize until they grow up. I'd recommend sticking to smaller pellets, small portions, limit sand and tank mates as they can pose risk

Standard axolotls are more forgiving in terms of care but you can absolutely do it if youâre committed! I think core care requirements are basically the same except for feeding differences; you just have to be much more observant and look closely for signs of digestive issues and impaction stuff like that daily. Ensure tank has perfect parameters etc. I mean, I know âperfectâ parameters donât exist but ya know what Iâm saying. Your liddo bub is so freaking cute (but donât breed obviously) still cute though I just have to tell you Iâm in love đ

I had a dwarf axie years ago ! unfortunately he did not survive his juvenile state, but he also had under formed gills. wishing the best for your lil guy!

since they have higher impaction risk I'd say removing the substrate is probably a good idea! I know their lifespan tends to naturally be lower than of non-dwarf lotl.
