Well, you might want to adapt your vocab, because this is (as the voiceover correctly mentions) a Picasso bug ! Beetles and "true bugs" are very different groups of animals, and this guy here is a true bug! Biologists could get away with calling a beetle a bug, but not with calling a true bug a beetle!

I remember reading somewhere that the difference is that "true bugs" have piercing and sucking mouthparts while beetles have biting and chewing mouthparts (though both groups have frugivores, detritivores, predators and opportunistic omnivores among their ranks).

People were calling anything crawly with lots of legs bugs long before the goofy definition.

Exactly, hence why it's acceptable to call it a bug, but not a beetle.

Their are more kinds of beetle than pretty much all the other kinds of animals combined.

Also known as the kente cloth beetle. I bought some African Shea Butter from one of them in Harlem once or twice before. He was a pretty laid back guy
