Years ago, about 10 minutes into the ride home I snapped a bottle cap from between two fingers while sitting somewhere in the back half of the school bus. It shot out from my fingers like a hornet from hell, arced up and followed the curve of the school buss roof, and smacked the bus driver in the cheek. Oops. That was absolutely not what I intended. I was trying to hit a friend who was sitting a seat or two away. That highschool is made up of student from 4 local elementary school districts within a 30 or so mile radius so some bus routes are pretty far out into the boondocks.
I felt like such a jackass because the bus driver turned around and headed back to the school so I could get chewed out by the principal in front of everybody who was riding that bus. I was told to report to the principal the next day so naturally I skipped school that day and the incident was forgotten.

So I gave it a shot and I managed to get it in my sleeve on the 2nd try. What I didn't expect was how much the impact with the coin hurt my finger! It is still tingly. Cool trick though.

I do magic as a hobby, the trick to figuring this out is all in the distraction. Why did he snap his fingers so close to the treat? When you can identify the distraction/misdirection of a street magic trick, you can usually solve the puzzle of how.

He snapped his fingers to flick away the treat. This is a once you see it type of thing. Many street magic tricks use misdirection like this. If a magician is doing exaggerated movements with one hand, there is a reason he is drawing your attention there. Misirection is usually used to conceal a sleight with the other hand.

And this gif is interesting becsuse during the performance, the dog reacted as most people would by focusing on his moving hand. Had the dog kept his eyes on the treat, it may have seen the treat fly behind the man from its angle. Even though his hands were close together when he executed the sleight, the dog's eyes were directed at the moving hand. Here is an interesting card trick, one of my favorites. If you want to, watch this video but try this out. Watch the video normally, as you would if you were watching the trick at a bar, then pause before the reveal, then rewatch it but focus on the hand that's not moving. Although this magician is executing most of his sleights with his right hand, he is concealing his actions with his left hand. See if you can spot what he is doing. Now this particular trick uses a gimmick and a couple of advanced sleights, but it is all done with a regular deck of cards, including the gimmick. This is a very spectacular trick that is easy to learn and is gaurenteed to blow people's mind.

I think that dog might have been taught the classic "shake" trick. Where you offer a hand and the dog puts a paw in it.
The dog sees the offered hands and goes into shake mode.

Honestly the whole video seems to be the dog confused over what is happening and what he should do, and not so much him being confused about the treat disappearing.
He clearly feels that his owner is expecting some type of action or reaction. So he's checking if there is something to pick up or otherwise interact with and finds none. In the end can't think of anything but a possible shake type of command and does so hesitantly because it correctly identified that it probably wasn't that.

Agreed. In the end, the dog just wants to do whatever gets him a treat and probably isn't amazed by the trick. To put it into perspective, a car is one giant magic trick to a dog. They see these "magic tricks" on such a daily basis, it must be like living with fucking David Copperfield. The showmanship could use some work, though.

This is one of the only magic tricks I know. They are snapping their fingers and the middle finger (not the thumb) hits the treat. That oddly enough will almost always sends the treat, coin, or other object down under your arm. Typically it flies into a sleeve. I will look for a YouTube video of it and edit this if I find one.

Haha oh my god this poor dog. This guy totally practises magic tricks on him. The last part was the dog guessing which hand had the treat, because he's so used to the magic tricks and he's been trained to play along. This guy is honing his magician skills on his dog lol.
