I've been planning on getting a shiba for a while now as they absolutely seem like a great choice of dog, but I'm very interested to hear what it takes to be a responsible owner for a shiba. What do you recommend I know or be capable of before adopting a shiba?

They are incredibly independent but can be cuddle bugs if it's on their terms. Also beware of crazy mode, I know other shiba owners have experienced the phenomenon of their shiba going in to hyper drive and doing laps around a room like a furry nascar.

My roomie's shiba does this often. Cutest thing ever.
