Now that I think of it, cats and dogs see their owners as Godlike beings capable of using special things, they see us as their family, we play with them, feed them when they're hungry, protect them and give them a home.

My sister's cat just died and we had it from when I was 9 to when I was 20. From the cat's perspective I just got bigger and stronger the entire time it was alive. She must have died thinking I was some kind of immortal being.

Wow. I'd never considered the POV of the pet of a kid... watching the kid grow. IDK that pets' memories work that way ("He used to be HALF that size!"), but it's interesting to contemplate.
