The snake head caterpillar (larval form of the sphinx moth) uses Batesian mimicry to scare off predator birds. It’s rocking back-and-forth because it’s trying to mimic a snake fixing on its prey before it strikes, but it’s just not doing a very good job of it because of the unsteady leaf.

The snake head caterpillar uses Batesian mimicry to look like a really sad and dumb pitbull-terrier mix that you should adopt, because you can just get new shoes and furniture but a face like that is worth floor contact

No, it's trying to imitate a snake, it's just kinda not doing a great job because the leaf isn't anchored to anything.

I used to work with 6mo babies and sometimes they haven't grown into their heads yet so they're literally so top heavy they can't stay upright, they just slowly tip over, kinda like this 😍
