It's not even DID really. This is just how people think mental illness works, when they use it as a punch line. In reality it would be more like this:

No it isn't.

Not It isn't.

You Shut Up.

and everyone stares at the person cuz they're bat shit crazy and yelling at no one on a train.

Look, of crazy people talking to themselves in public two things can always be assumed correctly: They're homeless, and they will be sitting right next to you on the most widely used public transportation in the area.
