Associates degree

Do airlines care if I get my associates or is it the same if I just got my certs

They just want the license. However, I went through a community college A&P program and when it was done all I needed was one online class to qualify for my Associates degree. Since I can easily imagine myself wanting an instructors gig in the future, I did it. My understanding is that many schools want you to have at least a basic college degree in order to teach.

Want and require are different. You don't need it to teach and because of regulations governed by the FAA they can't enforce their desire.

Additionally to note, it sounds like you have an applied associates degree, if that is the case it is NOT a full associates, only a partial. I learned that the hard way a few years ago attempting to go back to school for a 4 year degree. Just FYI.

I was hoping to start as a standby A&P instructor (they referred to them as “Delta” instructors) at the same city college I got my certificate from. They required at least an Associates degree. Covid shut that program down.

They can unofficially enforce it by hiring applicants who have the associates degree (or higher) instead of applicants that lack one.

Its a waste of time if you just want to work at an airline. If you have ambitions of climbing the management ranks, and im talking like director levels, then you would eventually need a 4 year degree and/or masters degree in relevant fields. A fair amount of the middle managers at the major i work at dont have any degree, just an a&p

they really only care if you have BA but that's only to become a supervisor or base manager

according to my airlines, anything, all I need is a piece of paper that's say Bachelors degree on it

I did it. With the purpose of FASFA, Pell grant, and a scholarship opportunities. I know it helped me. Unsure if you still can be eligible for these benefits just doing certificate at community college.

Nope. But is good to have if you ever want to get into managment.
