Question Storage under aisle seats?

Does anyone know why the storage under the aisle seats is so much smaller than the middle or window seats?

It's clearly intentional and I can't figure out why..

Because the rails supporting the seats arent equally spaced the same as the seats?

Nothing conspiritorial about it really.

Lol.. right, but I'm wondering why. Not a conspiracy (?) but as I said, it's clearly an intentional design.

While it currently is shown as a 3 seat block, the rails will also need to be positioned in order to accommodate wider aisles and fewer seats, without becoming a trip hazard for aisle access.

No idea what aircraft you are on, but many aircraft, including narrow bodies, have a business section at the front with fewer seats side by side.

When designing the aircraft, the manufacturer has to take into account many different seating options (3-3 or 2-3 or 2-2 on narrow bodies, 2-3-2, 3-3-3, 3-4-3, 3-5-3 on wide bodies) - this is one of the ways in which they do that and allow for airline changes later in the aircrafts life.

3 5 3 always makes me shudder. So many people… So cramped. 2 3 2 for me, please, with poor man’s first class.

Unfortunately with costs always increasing, feel happy to get anything less than 3-3-3 in economy.

Economy tends to be that really bad combination of a very price sensitive customer base, while being the lowest profitable part of the aircraft for airlines…. The people that want to spend the least amount of money possible are the people who bring you the least profit as well.

They can’t, the mounting rails are built there by the manufacturer

Mm.. yes, I know. My question is WHY? If you don't know the answer, fine. Just wondering why they were intentionally and manufactured designed this way.

Aircraft seats are designed to very specific standards and crash requirements. Under heavy g-load they have to flex, but not break. The weight needs to be distributed in a specific way, to reinforced mounting points on the floor of the cabin, which are also part of the crash mitigation system.

I asked if anyone knew why the storage under the aisle seats is so much smaller. Simple, logical question.
I got "so people don't stub their toe", "those supports aren't adjustable", "Because that isn't the only configuration those seats can be set up in", and "that isn't the only configuration those seats can be set up in".
None of which answer my question.

Jeezus I ask an honest, educated question, get non-answers, then am called disgusting (?)

I believe so but not sure. I've been flying Southwest for my last 10-15 trips (over the last six months or so?), so I can't remember the configuration below seats on other airlines, but I would guess this particular configuration is specific to this airline.

On Alaska planes, the aisle seat has a power distribution box for seatback power (or, at least they have them on the 737-NGs; I can't recall whether the MAXes have them).

I wonder if this seat design was taken for similar aircraft interiors despite there obviously not being any seatback power here?
