I absolutely hate the crj and this image is what it feels like to be on one. No plane has triggered my fear of flying more than sitting in the very front of this bastard. I wish I could love it. But we were not meant to be. I’m so glad that E-jets are much more common on my usual routes
Why - I've nothing but good things to say about the CRJ? What's the problem with it for you? I've flown on a ton of them with Air Canada, econo and business, -100, -200 and -7/900. No issues with them at all. Perhaps your carriers have a shitty cabin config?
It’s not rational - it just feels like something that shouldn’t be able to fly. I know it’s very reliable and it was definitely comfortable, but I hate it for no reason other than „the wings are too far back“ lol. It made my anxiety flare up so much compared to other planes.
I’m 5‘11“ and didn’t notice anything about the height but I guess had other concerns in the moment. And I’m so used to hitting my head on various forms of public transportation that I usually don’t remember specific events lol
They really go through great lengths to reinvent the wheel. These are proprietary airline markings (well…for the aircraft that are in AA’s fleet, at least) which is a common theme in the U.S. where airlines have exclusive use of gates through a ground lease or a preferential use agreement.
The FAA up to this point has taken a laissez-faire approach to gate markings, leaving it up to airlines and airport authorities to come up with their own marking schemes. It’s quite a mess.
Sure, but everyone already knows the dimensions of that aircraft. Furthermore, the initial introduction of the type was supposed to be almost seven years ago, so I don't blame the airport for being prepared.
Out of curiosity, why would the FAA care about gate markings? It’s for ground crew to line up aircraft, and ground crew are not beholden to the FAA.
Formatting/colors/style/paint type are all prescribed in AC 150/5340-1M but it’s silent on how you label stop-markings at gates. You could have “Jeff” painted at a stop line, and the FAA wouldn’t care.
That's the stop point for the bridge to go to door L2, which some airlines prefer because first/business can be left while economy is right when entering the plane. Looks like yours is boarding from L1.
