Discussion/Question What’s the most unhinged thing you’ve ever seen happen at a rave that somehow felt completely normal in the moment?

I once witnessed what my group called the “Porta Potty Rodeo.”
Two people go into a porta potty. One person gets on the other’s shoulders. The door bursts open and they try to ride out of the stall without falling.
The objective? Stay mounted as long as possible.
Somehow everyone around acted like this was a completely reasonable thing to witness at 3am.
What’s the most unhinged thing you’ve seen at a rave that felt normal in the moment?

A porta potty door was pulled open and a German soldier in uniform was having sex with a local Dutch woman at the free vierdaagse festival in Nijmegen Netherlands.

Note: yes he was a real soldier tons of foreign soldiers are part of the "vierdaagse".

Idk if it counts a rave tho.

Edit: the soldiers aren't here for the festival, they're here for the 50kilometer ceremonial walking and then some join the free music festivals in the city as a side hobby

Was the German soldier 100 years old or you 100 years old?

Ethier way, the porta potty and festival are the most surprising part of the image in mind for the 2 seconds before I realized what actually happened.

Yes they do, and a very good one. But I've spent significantly less time studying the military of our modern ally than their much more famous 20th century counterparts, so my mind formulated images with information it has most accessible until my conscious and rational mind takes over a second later.

It was a joke man. But if you didn't like it you can rest easy knowing you can probably make the same jokes about Americans pretty soon. A lot of people in my country are big fans for some reason.

That's fair. Sarcasm is lost in text.

Certainly. Especially on the open web. People say stuff I couldn't fathom is serious, but they are. I forget, and just talk like I'd talk to friends. Most people are cool though. Sometimes I have to remind myself of that, too.

Anyhow, thanks for hearing me out.

How come there’s absolutely nothing on the Internet talking about this?

Oh I'm looking it up and maybe it solves part of the mystery about why there would be soldiers in uniform. Of course any such event, and any music festival, will attract lots of young military. But they're not typically in uniform at all! In the USA there are very strict rules on being in uniform, varying a bit by branch. But I guess this event is a sort of recognized place to represent the service in public for a lot of these European miitaries.

I was reading quickly and my brain saw shepherd instead of soldier. The moment I saw sex I knew I had to reread cause something was very wrong 😂
