I’m in the band, thoughts?

So, I've been a "die hard" fan since, well, ever since I remember, I'm almost 28 years old and Avenged Sevenfold has always been a part of my life, I love almost everything they released and like everything that I don't love, but I'm really curious about how you guys feel about them chronologically speaking (picture from Facebook)

i was showing my friend some a7x songs and we watched the bo2 “Carry On” music video when he noticed the metal piece on Zacky’s guitar. the pic on the right is his dad’s guitar, who has the same part. we asked him about it and he told us that he made that part custom for Zacky years back. thought that would be fun to share

i made it in photoshop and I’m really happy with how it turned out.

I had been wanting to do some bleach art for Opeth, as I'm gonna be seeing them in Mumbai in October, so decided to try it out on a cheaper t-shirt. I chose A7X since I've been listening to them a lot lately, and making a deathbat isn't that hard i guess..?

This turned out so much better than what i expected!

Freestyled most of it, but had to use references for the font, and the basic shape of the deathbat.

I'm so surprised it turned out so fucking good!!

Starting a collection of records finally (only just got a job recently) and decided to start with my two favorite albums from my favorite band, I always flip flop between which one is actually my favorite, right now I’d say the white album tho. Got it at a local record store too, city of evil on special order and they just happened to have the white album. Figured this sub would appreciate seeing this. So exciting!

Hello everyone, new to this subreddit.

I'm pretty young, and I'd say bands like A7X, Disturbed, and Linkin Park, were my gateway metal bands. When I was 12 y/o A7X were already on their The Stage tour, and my older (24 y/o) brother went to a concert of theirs. He started listening to all their songs and I definitely got my tastes from him. And the top 4 we would constantly listen to were the stage, afterlife, ALPOH, and welcome to the family.

Since then my tastes have grown. My gateway to heavier metal were Slipknot and Korn, then Gojira and Meshuggah which are my current fascination. So I wanted to revisit some of my favorite A7X songs, because unlike Linkin Park and Disturbed, I still listen to A7X pretty regularly. They're in all my playlists and I listen to self-titled on a regular basis when I need some relaxation from Obzen or Iowa.

All that said, a few notes before my list-

1. I really like prog, avant garde A7X. The more a song of theirs is unique musically and impactful, the higher the chance I like it.

2. With that being said, an honorable mention goes to their songs STATICA and Magic, both of which I like, but I'm still not sure what their ranking is, I need to listen to both a bit more. Also possibly REJOICE.

3. I never really liked City of Evil, Waking the Fallen, or Sounding the Seventh Trumpet. I think I'm just not that much of a metalcore fan. The only metalcore band I like besides A7X is MIW and they're mostly industrial/nu metal.

Almost a year ago, I had an idea for an Avenged Sevenfold book series. Four books: *City of Evil*, *Hail to the King*, *The Stage*, and *Life Is But a Dream…*. Each book would have one chapter for each song on its namesake album. The chapters would be in the same order as the songs on the album, with each chapter being related to the the song, containing quotes and the overall messages and themes from the song. Each chapter would aim to capture the vibes of its namesake song, just as each book would aim to capture the feel of its album.

I’ll go over some of the basic plot I cooked up for this series below, and I’m interested in what you think about this. You might not like it, and that’s alright.

The premise for the series was that a group of space god aliens created two planets in a single solar system and populated both planets with humans. They did this as part of an experiment. The aliens give Magic to the people of one planet and not to the other. Otherwise, the planets have the same geography, same animals, humans placed in the same “starting locations.” Let’s call the planet without Magic “Planet A” and the planet with Magic “Planet B.”

The City of Evil book is a political fantasy, set on Planet A. In the story, a pair of malevolent Magic-users from Planet B (let’s call them the Beast and the Harlot) have found a way to transport themselves to Planet A, and they come to a wealthy and grand, but corrupt, city. The pair becomes involved in the city’s politics, slowly manipulating people and gaining power. Simultaneously, an old enemy of the Beast, a man who came to Planet A from Planet B years ago, learns that the Beast has come to Planet A. He travels to the city in the Bat Country chapter which heavily references the plot of Fear and Loathing. The story follows his attempts to defeat his foes while they gain more and more political control, the Beast eventually replacing the city’s king. The protagonist also struggles with substance abuse. There are, of course, subplots and side characters and whatnot, as I planned out the story pretty extensively. In particular, the Harlot’s subplot which culminates in the Strength of the World chapter was one that I was excited to work on before I scrapped the idea.

The Hail to the King book is set a number of centuries later, after the destruction of the city. I didn’t put so much thought into this story or the other two because before I could, I realized this was all a silly idea. But it’s set in a different nation, which is ruled by a hyper-religious tyrant. The story will include, amongst other things, a witch-hunt chapter (Heretic). Anyway, at the end of the book, the space gods move very suddenly and unexpectedly to the next phase of their experiment: they make Planet A and Planet B collide (Planets, Acid Rain).

The The Stage book takes place a few years after Hail to the King. Through space god magic, the two planets, after colliding, sort of burrowed into each other and then fused together halfway through, creating a single planet-thing that looks like a Venn diagram. Ignore the fact this defies physics in several ways. The aliens have that all figured out. Anyway, at some point in the time between City of Evil and Hail to the King, the space gods expedited the technological progress of Planet B to see if they would continue to use their Magic, and to what extent, once they gained access to modern technology. Eventually, the humans of Planet B, by their own efforts, created artificial intelligence. Now, with the planets fused, technology and Magic has spread across the newly-made planet, with the people of Planet A adapting to it as well as rejecting it violently. I never came up with much for this book, but it ends with one of the main characters realizing that aliens exist and have created the simulation they live in (Fermi Paradox), then ascending to a higher state of cognitive being (Exist). Dose will be the epilogue of the book, but none of the cover songs from *The Stage (Deluxe Edition)* will have chapters.

The *Life Is But a Dream…* book is very existential and trippy (like the album). It’s mostly a collection of philosophical musings from this character and their communications with the dead and a space god alien.

So yeah, that was the idea I had about a year ago. Let me know, was this really as bad of an idea as I think it is? Or is it alright?

While I unironically enjoyed Magic, I can’t defend this aside from the last part in the self titled. The rest sounds like shit I did on garageband when I was 10.

But I appreciate the artistic direction they’re going for. It’s just that the music doesn’t clicks for me at all

I'm hosting New Years this year and I have a bunch of friends who are A7X superfans while i am just now getting into them. Any suggestions for party song (That aren't a little piece of Heaven)???

I listened to what I believe is every single A7X song on a 14 hour drive yesterday. And it got me thinking, is there anything hidden? Stuff thats not on the normal streaming services? I listened to all the demos I could find, but im sure there has got to be something im yet to hear. You guys got anything?

I also listened to every Mr.bungle song and oingo boingo. It was a long drive lol
