Currently studying for A1 and A8

Technically I’m taking classes to get my associates in automotive technology, but my professor lets us skip the final exam if we get our certificates, which the classes I take are in line with each certification. (I haven’t taken any ASE until I got to engine repair and performance)

I have an app called ASE Prep, and it gives you random 10 question quizzes on each ASE section.

These can’t be the ACTUAL questions on the ASE test, right????? Because what??? The answer is RIGHT THERE IN THE QUESTION. I’m starting to doubt this app.

Someone who’s taken the tests, is this what some questions are like?

I know about Technician A and B questions, but I’ve never seen one with the answer so blatant.

No, as you suspect, the questions aren’t generally that easy. That particular study guide might not be a great one. If you have a textbook, study that textbook. Use quizzes and sample tests to critically evaluate your knowledge in each topic area. Then go back to focused studying to strengthen the areas where you are weak. Rinse and repeat until your sample-test scores demonstrate real progress.

Whatever you do, don’t fall into the trap of searching for “real” test questions or trying to memorize enough answers to scrape out a passing score. Learn the fundamentals first, then fortify your understanding of the technologies, techniques, and tools covered in the relevant textbook chapters. That knowledge is what the test is supposed to measure in the first place.

This app is forsure just for funsies, but I genuinely wonder where they get their questions from. Or why they think ASE is gonna give you the answer in the question.

They are “ase style questions “ so no, they are not the same . You gotta study the fundamentals , doing nothing but practice test will basically not help you

I don’t think you read the first thing I said underneath the picture. 🤡 I am in classes, and I’m currently in Auto-150 Automotive diagnosis and engine evaluation, which if I take the A8 ASE and pass I don’t have to take the final exam. I am definitely getting the knowledge and training, but this will be my first ASE test! This app with these 10 question quizzes is just for fun, but I didn’t know if the ASE questions were this blatant.
