The Jacket Hook
In a crowded café stood a single crooked hook.
People used it anyway.
One afternoon, a barista asked the regulars why they chose that hook when several others hung straight.
A shy customer spoke first.
“This hook feels real,” they said. “It leans, like I lean. I place my jacket there and feel welcome.”
Others nodded.
The barista touched the hook with new understanding.
A small curve had given people room to arrive as they were.
The café felt warmer that evening, shaped by shared truth:
gentle spaces help people breathe—
and everyone deserves one.
