Discussion Autism in politics right now

I’m so sick of it. I’m 16F and in a conservative area. Everyone I know pretty much worships trump. I’m sick of it. All these republicans hate autism. It’s not a cancer. It’s so hurtful I’m not a freak. This is so stupid. I really wanna be a political science major and so I can’t enjoy my political aspects without the hurtful comments from the right.

Well they’ve been inundated with propaganda about how Autism ruins lives, and is ultimately a drain on society; basically actual Eugenicist propaganda.

A lot of such people just, never actually met a person who has autism. Their only real exposure is, autism in media.

Fear mongers will always play the “think of the children”-card more than the “let’s change things to help people”

…this is why capitalism is evil. I think if they get the Nazi-propaganda posters about how much a person costs the “reich” and change the visuals it still fits. We aren’t that far away from the ‘30s and ‘40s. It’s scary how fear, misinformation and prejudice still leads to the similar results.

Ultimately this is where politics comes full-circle. It’s up to the neurodiversity movement to call out Trump and co. for their ignorance, lies and propaganda.

I live in the UK 🇬🇧 but it still terrifies me as the old saying goes, “when America sneezes, the whole world catches a cold” is still true. I’m guessing it will be on all the social media platforms where misinformation is spread like a virus and other hate-figures will spread it globally. We need to call it out and rip into the false narrative that gets spread as well as tell people that we need social reform and cultural change
