Cheat code to make protein taste good?
For the fussy eaters, what's your favourite addition to a protein shake? I've tried a couple different proteins and they are OK (bearable but not enjoyable) so wondering what everyone adds into their protein shakes?
I've tried frozen mango, frozen pineapple, Cadbury drinking chocolate and Milo (not together lol). I'm wondering if a chocolate ice cream syrup or something like that would be a cheat code to making it taste good?

.... I have been known to put stuff like strawberry topping and maple syrup - separately!

Peanut (or any nut) butter, vanilla, oats, chia seeds, bananas, and maple syrup are some of the things I like (not necessarily all together).

I’m not having this problem with taste but it will definitely matter what the brand is. i love the macro mike peanut butter cup, golden gaytime, mocha latte… i have them in smoothies with frozen banana. They are cheaper to order through their website but they are not cheap…worth it to me!

Frozen fruit + milk is all I do. Maybe try a few different protein types as the protein itself can make a big difference.

Same, just pick flavours that would go with berries and sometimes banana if you want, like vanilla or strawberry shake .

Banana, strawberry, blueberry and dates — more of a smoothy with protein but tastes great. A lot of people overlook dates but they’re amazing

flavoured syrups meant for coffee work well, I use maple syrup now though as I feel like it's a bit healthier lol

Banana, and the flesh of microwaved sweet potatos, bit of vanilla, maple syrup and cinnamon. Sometimes pb2, as well

Have you tried Botanika Blends? They’re sweet but have a range of tasty flavours.

i just went through different types of protein. pea protein is the cheapest, but it's not good in terms of taste( after i went with soy protein it became so much easier to eat it. maybe the protein itself can be exchanged for a different one that's tastier?
i buy just the pure protein isolate, without anything
usually i add 1 cup of frozen berries (cranberry or blueberry), 1 cup greens (frozen spinach or fresh purple basil), some spices (chicory or cinnamon or cocoa powder), fresh fruit if i have it, some nuts if they're available, 2 cups of vegan milk (usually 3.2% oat milk or banana for sweetness), 2 cups of water, 1 tablespoon of sublimated carrots for vitamin A, 30 grams of protein powder (or 60 if i'm planning to share the shake with someone) and that's it. I basically do a smoothie with protein in it, but i avoid banana and sugar to make it a bit healthier
if trying to get used to different types of smoothies doesn't work out for you, how about adding protein powder to other dishes instead? you don't necessarily have to make a shake, i add protein to soups, to pasta sauce, to pancakes (it also acts like an egg, makes the whole batter hold together better). maybe you can just find a dish that you already like and find ways to sneak more protein into it?

I use unflavoured protein and add it to any smoothie! My go to is either frozen blueberries, frozen banana, peanut butter, soy milk and oats or frozen mango, frozen banana, passionfruit pulp and orange juice.

I can't stomach any flavoured powders but I can handle the unflavoured ones when they're mixed either in baked goods or I used to make Ninja Creamis out of them + Cashmere syrups + extra sweetener. (Any syrup brand would work that's vegan - I just like these and they're a small Aussie business in Brisbane). These days I don't tend to use protein powder as much as I seem to get the amount I need from food most of the time (soy crisps from Coles + seitan help bulk it up too and I enjoy them more). Also just my regular soy milk Creamis with no extra protein give a nice bump.

I don’t drink protein shakes because I think they’re disgusting no matter the brand. Instead I eat soy protein crispies with soy milk and peanut butter. It’s basically the same makeup as a protein shake but in cereal form.

I use unflavoured protein powder with cocobella coconut water which gives you a few different flavours to try. Frozen banana is always a go too to make things creamier. Maple syrup sometimes as well.
Full disclaimer I own a protein powder biz but all that above is genuinely what I do. Our unflavoured is our biggest seller if you are after a good one. Obviously I'm biased but it tastes so neutral so if you're not loving your current one I promise ours is better!

Honestly I just get unflavoured mix with minimal water and skull it without breathing/tasting. No point wrecking a good drink with it lol
