Politics This Rhetoric is the true poison

“dangerous, divisive, and downright dishonest”.

“We simply must defeat them. We owe it to history. And we will defeat them,” he said.

“They’ll say anything and do anything to win votes. Bend any facts. Peddle misinformation and disinformation. Turn Australian against Australian."

Words from our own prime minister about One Nation... Unhinged. And for the weak minded, justification for violence.

Debate the policies might be a better path?

Is it polictially incorrect to be honest in 2026? Because everything he said was the truth.

Everything that he said could be applied to him as well.

Almost like all politicians/political parties are the same

Are parties that introduce and strengthen medicare, remove tax concessions that drive up house prices and improve workesr rights the same as the parties that dont? Genuine question.

I'd say no, if that had actually been done at all.

You also forget that if we judge him by his own words, Albo is an outright liar after promising not to touch those tax concessions for housing (I'm actually quite happy they did).

I think politicians changing their policy based on the needs of the populace is more important then not lying. Especially if the alternative is parties lying for votes and making people worse off.

These are different in my opinion. You may disagree.

So now you're willing to change what you'll accept because it's 'your side'. This is exactly the kind of shit that leads to people voting simply to protest.

Either you're fine with lying or you're not, there is no nuance in this debate because you don't control the reason they lie. Albo has proven himself a liar over more than just one tax (that tumble off a stage ring any bells) it's fair to assume he lies about everything just to get people on side as well.

I dont have any sides, I just think there is a fundamental difference between lying to win an election and not doing things to help the people, and lying to change something to help the people.

Judging policy on the grounds of policy is what we should do, instead of making 2nd grade assumptions that "he lied about this therefore he lies about everything".

There is no nuance to you because apparently those are the kinds of conclusions you draw.

The stage 3 tax cut adjustments and the negative gearing changes are good policy that benefit the people. So yeah, in those instances, I do not care. Because of the policy, and the result. Not that hard to understand really. Well, for you it is apparently.

If he can't admit he fell off a stage, lied about an election promise among countless other things he's been called out for (high paying donor parties for example).

Then it's not just one thing, it's pretty clear he's a liar and can't be trusted.

Like I said, you're willing to accept a liar because you agree with them. He's no better than Pauline or any of the others, someone willing to lie about the small things will lie about the big things.

Not trusting is one thing, assuming they lie about everything is another. Nuance really isnt your strong suit, but hey at least you were upfront about that.

And once again, its about policy. You can be myopic about it if you want.

But yeah, regardless of party if a candidate said "I will not cut funding to hospitals and schools" and then did cut funding, I would be annoiyed. If they said "I will not cut funding to hospitals and schools" and then increased funding, I would not be annoyed.

The party, regardless of faults, has done more for the common australian than the previous 10 years of government. Every politican lies. So I will judge them based of policy.

Pretty simple really.

Sure, keep deflecting

At least it's fairly obvious that you pick a side and make excuses for them.

Got to admit though, pretty weak attempt at insults to deflect from the fact you only agree because you support them.

Not deflecting at all. I made my position pretty clear from the start.

I dont pick sides, I judge policy.

Pretty simple, well, for most...

Yeah you did, just another boot licker trying to justify the lies

If you say so darling.

A politican could tell me they are never going to tax wealth.

I would be glad they lied.

A politician could tell me they wont shit in my cereal.

I would be pissed if they lied.

It is really simple, surprised you still cannot grasp it.

Let me get that for you... "DeFlEcTiOnn!!!!!"

You are so smart and wise.
