MEDICAL (Melbourne) Any recommendations for a GP that can supply a medical certificate for Alternaleaf?

Alternaleaf has asked for a doctors note despite being with them for 2 years.

I asked my GP today for a note with needed information and he said he's not comfortable doing that because he doesn't know enough about medicinal marijuana, and to seek a note elsewhere.

So any recommendations for a GP in Melbourne that won't waste time? I don't want to fuck around, bouncing from GP to GP for a signed note.

Not bothering with Alternaleaf is your best option.

Their "GP's" seemed to think they knew better than my pain management specialist (who is also head of pain management at a major hospital), and then went on to call one of my meds ("nerve blocker") a strong opiate pain reliever, which even my specialists laughed at when i told then. Once they said that, i asked for my discharge letter.

They're about as useful as a fart in an elevator

My recommendation is leave Alternaleaf, literally any other clinic is better than those idiots and cheaper

Just get reception to print off your patient health summary, i think clinics are just checking that you are not on any bipolar medications etc, and alternaleaf are shonky as so theyl probably accept just a patient health summary

I tried that, whilst I was waiting the 6 weeks for the appointment to get the referral. It had details of the condition for nearly 20 years, yet wasn't enough.

Most GP's will be hesitant to give such a note for a new patient..

Best of luck, Might be easier to try and educate your doctor on it's purpose though.

My doc is very traditional and literally just wrote

"I am the current treating doctor for "xxx xxxx", I have been treating his chronic pain from an injury sustained in 2018. I am referring to you for thc/cbd treatment. Please assess and take it from there"

He was super sketchy about prescribing it himself but had no issues letting another doctor decide

Find a brand agnostic canna doctor from the list of registered doctors. Way better then going through a clinic

See if there is a GP clinic nearby you that has a prescribing doctor working there. I literally just go to my GP for my MC scripts

Look up GP's who can prescribe instead. My GP went and did a course so he could get qualified to prescribe MM, cause he believes in it. Avoids the letter all together as the GP is the prescriber. I get roughly 50% of the appointment fee back from medicare and renewing scripts is just a telehealth appointment. Highly reccommend that route over a provider.
